That's fine. I haven't seen anything new. I'm only telling you what I heard.
Oh, I get it. And I am hoping for him to have a long, healthy, productive career.
I hope he succeeds, but I have seen plenty of red flags and only a handful of positive things from Becton. JD can't let his reliance on Becton be his downfall.
I don't think he's overly reliant upon him. Brown will probably be starting LT...Becton RT. And the team has a couple of swing tackles.
Becton has already cried about moving to RT before. This guy is soft. Or that's what he has shown so far.

I think Becton realizes he is on the bubble. Went from insisting he would only play LT, to being willing to play RT. Now he is also taking special team snaps. Brown is the starting LT. That's been made clear. I think

Douglas holds on to his early picks too long hoping for a miracle to happen as in Wilson and Becton.
From a financial standpoint it's tough dumping first round picks. Both will likely be gone this season if we can't work out reasonable deals with them (especially Zach since he will have to agree to a backup QB contract for it to make sense to keep him).
Douglas couldn't dump Wilson this year due to a negative cap hit. Regarding Becton, he had little trade value due to his contract. Last season, you may have had a point with Becton. But the Jets brought in a slew of linemen since his 2nd major injury.
It’s going to be a very interesting preseason for both of these guys and what future they have if any with the jets. We need a LT in the worst way and Brown still unable to play has me very concerned. Becton could secure that spot, but would have to kill it these next couple of preseason games. If he doesn’t JD Will probably cut bait.
Wilson on the other hand has no shot at playing unless the unmentionable happens. But if he continues to show improvement he at least becomes marketable. if he’s smart he would sign a backup deal for another year to continue the upward trajectory learning how to be a professional under AR.
With Wilson, the buzz is that the Jets want him to be the backup until Rodgers leaves and then take over. I guess it's doable but I can't imagine Wilson wanting to hang around that long if he's not getting starter money. I'm not as worried about LT as others.
It's kinda tough to come in as a top pick, start a few seasons then get demoted to a backup role. It would be in his best interest to take a backup QB deal and continue to learn from Rodgers, but I don't know if his ego is going to let him do that (this is the same guy who completely shit the bed in a game last season and walked into the press conference and said "he didn't let the team down").
I think it's going to start that way. But if Rodgers is to play 3 seasons with the Jets, it will be season 6 when Wilson is handed the reins. Wilson will also have to sign a 2nd contract based on being a backup. If by the end of this season, Wilson feels that he play at a higher level than backup, he will want to move forward and make starter money. Then it will be difficult to retain him.
If everything goes according to plan, Wilson may have an opportunity to start some games towards the back half of the season (especially if we come out strong and get ourselves a lock in the playoffs).
Any blowouts, I'm sure he will get some burn as well. So he may have an opportunity this season to play some games. Rodgers seems to be doing a great job mentoring him. It will be up to Hackett to simplify the game for him and build up his confidence.
I don't disagree with you. But if that does happen, it'll be harder to keep Wilson on the roster. And from what I saw against the Browns, he has already improved drastically.
Lets see how the preseason plays out. If he is looking like a different player, honestly it would be best to trade him while the stock is high. If Rodgers is gonna give us 3 years or so, it really doesn't make sense to keep Zach on the back burner that long. It would make more sense to trade him, then draft a QB to learn from Rodgers the next 2 season, then take over.
If Zach shows ANYTHING the Jets aren't letting Him go. No Way IMO would they do that. If Zach is content to stay and learn at the Masters feet the Jets will keep Him believe me. If Zach magically becomes a viable NFL starter this year the Jets might just consider dumping AR instead. They loved Zach from the beginning. To see Him become that Guy they thought he was? No Way they part ways unless Zach asks for the moon.
