Quincy Enunwa looking to win third wideout spot

I agree that Kerley's value would be 6-7 round at best. He is a small slot guy with a little wiggle, not enough speed, who has left lots of yardage on the field.

I only say that because to me it's a little weird that Kerley hasn't been running with the ones. If he was a lock to start he would be getting a lot more reps with the first team offense like Decker and Marshall have been. To my eyes the Jets management may feel that they can get similar production from cheaper younger players. Plus they probably want Smith to be the 3rd wideout once his ribs are healed. They certainly don't want to pay Kerley the money he's currently making to be the 4 th receiver. So by connecting the dots that's why I could see him traded. It may also free up resources to sign Mo to a long term deal.
Personally I like Kerley. He's a home grown talent that has shown he can perform at a high level. But if you look objectively at it, he just may be expendable.

From a cap stand point it makes no sense to cut him, or trade him really. To have him on the team cost 2.6 million, to cut him creates a 3.4 million cap hit.

What I think they are doing, as I mentioned above, is challenging him. He has to defend his starting position. He may, lose some reps, but I feel pretty certain he'll be with the team.

For this season don't think Smith is going to figure in the equation all that much. He missed all of mini camp, because his girl friend had a baby a week after camp ended, then got hurt very early in summer camp.

IMO he'll be running fly pattern's to open space up for Marshall, and Decker underneath. I don't know what all the hype about Enunwa is all about. He has 1 catch for 6 yards in 2 games. I'm not 100% sure he makes the team. Think he has a good shot, but not sure.

Qvail was getting a ton of reps with the 1's at RG for most of the offseason, bang, now he's playing RT with the 2's.

Let's see how it goes tonight .

I would love to see Chad Gailey "open it up" tonight against the Giants beat up secondary , with Enunwa & Owusu as his primary deep targets.

What's Enunwa got? 1 catch for 6 yards? Think Kerley has 2 for 39.

I believe the reason Kerley may be in trouble in that Devin Smith lines up on the outside and Decker moves to slot. Kerley is a good slot receiver but is not as suited for the wide spot. Once Smith is healthy again, Kerley's role is reduced.

Enunwa has played more snaps (57) than any other WR on the roster. 3 targets, 1 catch for 6 yards. #NYJ

Kerry's not getting released, but if the right offer were to materialize...
