The problem is, there's a lot of guys like kerley and Riley, they are replaceable.

Ah ha. So Geno comes into a game where just about everyone else on the Jets takes a big crap against Oakland, and throws the following stat line: 27/42 for 265, 2 TD's and 1 INT, 2 rushes for 34 yards.
That qualifies as a "shi*ty performance" only in the minds of those who refuse to budge off their stance.
Actually, Bowles mentioned Milliner as one of the leading candidates to replace Cromartie. I'm certain you missed that comment yesterday, seeing as it deviates far away from your mission to prove me wrong.

as far as bowles comments on milliner?? please.. the same guy that didn't take a snap (he did play special teams during this stretch) the last 8 weeks of this past season is suddenly going to bunny hop his way to starting?? that would be a neat trick.. amazing how milliner has "won over" coach during the part of the calendar year that has no actual "on field" football activities, huh??
Smith played very well at times during the OAK game.... He has shown flashes of being as good as Fitz was this year in his 3 years here.... Problem is he made bad decisions at the worst times in that OAK game which has been his knock over the 3 years here... No consistency.... If he can ever flip that switch his talent says he can have a very productive career... I don't see it here as a Jet....
Milliner I think just needs to stay healthy... He does that and he will be at worst an above average CB in the NFL..... But staying healthy is a big IF!!!!

I would say geno looked like a kid in swimmies trying not to drown in Oakland.
Geno had never looked good against any real competition. He played well after he was eliminated from the playoffs, against teams that undeniably did not show up because they too were eliminated, and were avoiding injury. Only the jets were dumb enough to play for Rex and hurt our own draft standing.

you left out the part about how long he takes to get the ball out..
simply put, the NFL game moves too fast for smith to process..

Of all the bad crap that smith does that is probably the worst, and leads to the other mistakes that killed the Jets.
5.3 Seconds, Brady 2.1 sec. Fitz. 2.7 seconds. Really doubt there are many OL on the Jets that want to see him back.
i know you're fairly optimistic we can get a bag of rocks for "what's his face" but i just don't see it happening..
