What the hell does this mean? its all conjecture....a guy making a name for himself....he cant be wrong....he succeeds hes a genius...he doesn't...say the skills he thought he saw "did not transfer to NFL".....or his off field problems got in way
Tanking is for LOOOOOOOSERS players and looser fans ...go ahead and walk in the locker room and tell Sheldon Richardson and Nick Mangold and Brick and Harris and Ivory..busting their asses off play in play out giving their guts and heart and soul that they aren't playing to win and they are sacrificing their bodies every play to where they could get injured and never play again.....Ill show them a coach or GM strung up from their locker room ceiling..
A smart coach and GM can throw games without the players even knowing.
I think you really underestimate the intelligence of players...they know their teams strengths and weaknesses maybe not a game plan totally specific..but they know what is real..and what is going through the motions....
You could have the locker room attendant put itching powder in their jocks.

Right now my money is on Mariota sliding to the Jets, unless somebody trades up in front of us.
I will be beside myself, if he falls to 6 and we can pull off a trade with the Eagles. I will be much happier with extra picks/Foles/Geno as opposed to Mariota / Geno.

I'm really sorry to see that the draft guru's have caught up to reality. I was really hoping Winston would screw something up at the combine, and fall out of #1
I've been touting Winston since last year. IMO he is going to be a top 5 QB in the NFL.
6 weeks or so ago Mariota was going to be the #1 pick in the draft. 90% of the "guru's and beat writers were telling us this. At that time a lot of people were positive that "Winston was going to fall out of the top 10.
Since then Oregon destroyed FSU. Winston pulled a Genoish play during the game. Kicked a fumble up over his head for a turnover. Every one was laughing. Winston was done. A bust. I was thrilled. Thought Winston would actually be there at 6. Would have been thrilled if he was there at 2. I would have gone up and got him.
Now here we are after the combine, which Mariota aced, and every one is positive Winston is the first pick in the draft. McShay is debating if he is the second best prospect in 10 years. (By the way I agree)
WOW. What the hell happened? Did these guys actually go in and watch some game tape of the kid? Instead of just writing articles about him shop lifting $16 in crab legs and labeling him a bust. Or maybe they were busy lauding Ray Lewis, who at the least was an accessory to a murder.
Now people are advising the Jets to pass on Mariota. I know that's not exactly what Mc Shay said, but it's what most people are going t get out of it. If the Jets pass on Mariota I'm going to be really upset. Every one is saying this is a horrible QB draft. After Mariota /Winston, I agree. I do feel strongly in 3 years from now, Winston, and Mariota are both going to be good QB's in the NFL. Mariota is very green, but he has all the tools. I think he'll be a fine Jets QB

The win over the Fish had 0 impact on drafting Winston. Fish were eliminated from the play offs the week before, and were a beaten team. They just quit

I just have a hard time understanding why people think the Birds are going to give up the farm to trade with the Jets. IMO the odds are that they will go to the Raiders to keep Mariota away from the Jets.
Only way it happens is if it happens before draft night. Very rare. Remember Parcells did it 2 weeks before the draft, with the first pick, but still very rare. If the Birds trade up the night of the draft, I'm fairly confident it will be with the Raiders.
Not one time did I ever watch Winston and think he was Luck.

Agreed! Its amazing how much a run of the mill football fan claims they know more then a sports analysis or scout or whatever the hell you want to call these guys that get paid to do this. They watch countless hours of film, go the all or most of the games, conduct interviews with the players, coaches, teammates, family members if needed etc-etc. But regular Joe-smos like you and I swear they know more. Its pretty funny when you think about it. Hopefully this isn't another case of he is black so he can't possibly be that good and as intelligent as a white QB like Luck. SMH!

This is true, flgreen, Bronx has it exactly right, the difference in even one draft spot is huge in the TOP 6 and they can literally save themselves the equivalent of another 1st RD Pick by trading with us instead of a team thats ahead of us, so it really behooves them to trade with us instead of the teams ahead of us if they think they can still get Mariota.
Take a look at the draft trade value chart, and for the record, its been established that NFL GM's do use this chart as their guide when they are making draft day trades that involves moving picks. They needed something like this because there's so little time to make trades when teams go on the clock, there's really not much time for negotiations and haggling, thats why GM's prefer some kind of guide to establish at least the general vicinity of what constitutes a fair trade, and this is the same guide the NFL GM's use.

Notice the huge disparity with the higher picks at the top of the first round. For example the difference between the 2nd Pick and the 6th Pick is 1000 Value Points, which is the equivalent of the 16th Overall Pick in RD 1, which means the Eagles would have to cough up next years 1st RD Pick to Tennessee on top of anything they would have to give us.
True, but what they would have to do is essentially establish the draft pick equivalent of Foles, something both teams agree on, then subtract that number of draft chart value points from the trade, then make up the difference in picks.
So lets say the Eagles and Jets make a deal and they agree that Foles is the equivalent of a 2nd RD Pick.
The difference between 6 and 20 is 750 VP's (value points)
If we agree that Foles is the equivalent of the 2nd RD Pick the Eagles have in this draft (#52 ), that would be 380 VP's, so we subtract 380 from 750 and they still have to give us approximately 370 VP's in draft picks.
So if we agreed Foles is the equivalent of a 2, the trade would look something like this:
The Eagles move up from 20 to 6
The Jets move down from 6 to 20
The Jets add the Eagles 2nd RD Pick in this draft, #52 Overall (#52 = 380 VP's)
The Jets acquire Nick Foles in the deal as well.

Of course we would get significantly more if we agreed Foles is worth a 3 instead of a 2, but this is what the deal would look like if we put the value of a 2 on Nick Foles. Just to give folks an idea of how the chart works.
