So that's the rub -- does Fitz see himself for what he is (a decent QB in a GREAT situation) or does he see himself the way some here do -- a team MVP/savior, and multiple team record-setter? If it's the former, then he'll likely agree to a fair deal and I welcome him back with open arms. But if he's caught up in himself the way some here are, do you really think he'll agree to take less money than Nick Foles ($12M+) and Sam Bradford ($13M+)?
That's why I liked him not getting MVP. Not because I don't love the guy, but because I hope it shows that people outside this forum see him for what he truly is (as opposed to the type of player Buffalo thought they saw when they offered him big $$$) . . .
He gets less than both of those guys, they are young with perceived upside and franchise potential, with Fitz you have a couple years of his late prime before he's approaching 40.
Nobody on here should discredit Fitz. I loved the move from day one, I didn't like any one else on the market. We had Marshall, then the news broke that trading for Fitz with Gailey in mind as oc,everything made sense and was a great win now strategy.
But he also isn't Tom Brady, and I do get the feeling he is realistic with himself.
I'm certain we have a 2 year window with this core, and Fitz isn't going to destroy that with a giant contract. Remember, he's already received a giant contract, this is about validation. He's also a salt of the earth guy, good indicators for fans.
If he puts the team first here, he could be a life long hero in ny, and that's more valuable than money.
