hi and welcome but don't forget those stats don't matter when it comes to the sb. I am sure he would have gave a little extra for that.
timmy!!no i think he was a tebow fan like me on JI
Long time no see UC. If you go back and look at the play by play, there were a number of instances in the game where NE held Lynch to 1 yard or less, and that was with their "base" defense. On that last play, NE lined up with 4DL and 4 LBs against Seattle's 3WR set. So, you had a stacked box with 8 defenders on a goal line stand and one on one coverage on the WRs. The play was there, Butler or whatever his name was just made a hell of a play by avoiding the pick and jumping the route.
Here's a pic of it.:

Who cares now!! They cheated to get there and I will always know that. I will just turn off NFLN and ESPN for 6 months and not worry about it.
yeah right you know you want to see them get a slap on the wrist for their deflategate

yea - I am not watching any NFL TV coverage. Just finding my content online. Cannot stand the Pats ass kissing

Good post and welcome. You have to try it in that situation and run it in. You had three plays, surely you can get one yard. Lynch just bulldozed his way to a first down and was just short. He was hungry for that TD!
i'm sorry but no way in the world did a quick slant make any sense at all.. i'm still stunned.. if seattle was hell bent on passing, why not a roll out with the option to throw the ball out of bounds??Thanks for the welcome Elias.
Posted the stats, but Lynch was 1 for 5 this year from the 1 yard line. Zero yards gained on 2 of the plays, and lost yardage on the other 2. Just because he's "Beast Mode" on most the field doesn't mean he can do the same thing in a goal line situation as the dynamics are very different.

wecome to NYJF BTW..
i stand by my assertion that it was indeed the dumbest play call in NFL history.. any pass play that doesn't give your QB the opportunity to throw the ball away in that situation is ass backwards as far as i'm concerned..Thanks for the welcome.
I'm not saying that it was the best play to call, but I think it's a wild exaggeration to call it the worst call ever. Looking at the photo, the play was there. Can debate whether the throw was a 1/2 or 1/4 second late, if the ball was 6 inches too far inside, if the WR should have fought harder on the route instead of getting knocked off, or if you just have to give the defender props for making a heck of a play.

you simply cannot lose a SB like that..
completely inexcusable..
a quick slant is exactly that.. "quick..." why put a young QB in harms way like that?? the kid didn't deserve to be put in that situation..Have to ask, just what exactly prevented Wilson from throwing the ball away on this play ? If he didn't like what he saw, he could have easily sailed the ball over everyone's head. He could have rolled out beyond the tackle and thrown the ball away. He could have put the ball in the dirt at the WR's feet.
What it comes down to is that he didn't expect the Pats defender to be able to get around the pick and make a play on the ball.

devil's advocate notwithstanding, you seem to be very much in minority as far as defending the indefensible..So "young" QBs who have 20+ games under their belt as a starting NFL QB, not to mention numerous playoff victories and a SB trophy shouldn't be asked to make a presnap read and decide whether or not to throw a quick slant ? Have to ask, are there any other types of standard NFL plays/passes that they shouldn't have to make?

we'll have to agree to completely disagree..
