Shady McCoy traded to Buffalo

What we should do to piss Rex off, is to sign Harris to a new 1 year deal, then Rex will be without Kiko or Harris, and stuck with a RB who's going to hate Buffalo. In reality, Harris & Rex already have a under handed buddy deal worked out, so I fully expect Harris in Buffalo.

what are our options if Harris leaves? The Free Agent LB position is pretty thin

If Harris leaves then oh well. There's some guys out there. One in mind is Sam Acho who was with Bowles last year in Arizona.

I realize this is a Jets site, but how about some discussion about the actual trade?

Hopefully we'll stay solid against the run, so personally I'm glad seeing Buffalo lose a quality player on the defensive side of the ball.

Having said that, do we think McCoy had a "down" year last year (by his standards) or has he lost a bit? If not, why would Kelly give up on him?

INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW!!!!!!!!!

In Kelleys offense the RB is an interchangeable part.... He believes ge can get the production he needs out of anyone in that position if they have the speed he covets... QB is the key to his offense... He knows it... He is doing what he can to make a move for Mariota while filling the holes he needs filled... He signs Maclin, trades for Mariota and for Alonso... He just needs OL and a 4th/5th rd rb with speed to go along with Sproles or he gets a FA cheaper than McCOy.

Sounds to me like WRECKS just traded a guy who would have been his best LB and maybe best defensive player for a RB that may not have the size and durability for his Ground and Pound offense.

Maybe Alonso doesn't fit into one of those cast in stone positions required for his Dad's dated defense. Maybe he's too fast, can cover and make tackles from sideline to sideline ..better a slow immobile one dimensional LB like Harris, Pace, Scott or Thomas for that Rex/Buddy 46 imitation

This is a great trade for Buffalo in my opinion. Shady McCoy will help their QB whoever that is. He is impossible to tackle and is nifty.

RBs have a shelf life.
Shady is not exceptionally fast for a smaller back, (4.42s), though he is an elusive and shifty one.
Nor does he have a particularly good vertical, (29"), in the passing game, (28/155 yards in '14 - 5.5 yd ave.), which is a big RB commodity in Kelly's offense. Sproles is a much better pass receiver - double McCoy's average & 2.5X his pass reception production - & had a higher rushing YPA than McCoy last season.

They've burned him up with 628+ carries in the past 2 seasons & if anyone understands the value of fresh incoming youngsters it's Chip Kelly the recently HC of Oregon, who is sorta used to going through players and replacing them after 3 or 4 seasons.
He lost 3 of his 4 fumbles last season too, which doesn't help his case.
There are a number of pretty highly ranked RBs in this draft, PHI should be able to snag one in Rd 3, since they have been devalued as of late.

There are sound reasons for dumping a 7th season, $9.75M RB in favor of new blood and a $1.2M brilliant young MLB, (which Philly lacks depth at, behind 10th year vet DeMeco Ryans).
Methinks Rex & Whaley got skinned in this trade.

How good is Alonso? McCoy's impact will be much greater than what Alonso can bring to the table I think.

I'm guessing they're going to keep Sproles and try to capitalize on one of the RB's later in the draft. When it comes to Chip Kelly who knows?

I just hate trades that make our opponents that much better. This trade definitely got Rex Ryan's approval before going through. Say what you want about his knowledge of the offense but the man knows his defense and he probably doesn't see Alonso as a big loss.
