None of us will ever really know the true ins and outs of this deal but I can say that I am a bit disappointed here. I know TB would most likely be traded but I was hoping we would get a second rounder at least. I was also hoping TB would go someplace where he could start immediately or by weeks 3-4 at least. At New Orleans, he won't see the field unless Breez gets hurt and Breez is like Brady where he wants to play for 3-4 more years. If this holds up, when will Bridgewater ever see the field??? Anyway, this tells me a lot about our team and their thought process:
1. Bowles job must be pretty secured and this may not be a win now situations. Seems to me they are giving him another 2-4 years to develop this team and QB and see what he can do with this.
2. They must have supreme confidence in Darnold because as good as he played and picked up on what he has to so far, Bridgewater clearly outplayed him. Yes Darnold kept it close but you can see Bridgewater's play was on another level to this point.
3. They must believe that this either won't be a playoff team with either of the 3 QBs playing or they feel Darnold can actually help them to be a playoff contender this year. Just like Bridgewater could have.
4. They wanted no chance of a QB controversy with Bridgewater sitting behind Darnold. Darnold will certainly have his ups and downs this year and having Bridgewater sitting behind him may stir up those questions, if Darnold's downs start to get sorta significant. I doubt seriously his downs will get that bad but who knows!!!
5. To trade away a 25 year old possible franchise QB for a 21 year old must mean that we have the guy!!!

Lastly and I'll say it again, thank you Kirk Cousins for passing up on the Jets $90 million dollar offer, which was the highest of any team (other than the Vikings if I'm correct.) You have set us free!!!
