Big relief. He got a fine, two years probation, and community service. Certainly deserved all of that.
But no jail time, which is the most important.

sheriff goodell may still give him a time out
He may, but didn't he already do that in the first four games this season? Wouldn't that be double jeopardy?
no, that was for something else (smoking pot?). this was something else, but the league was waiting for the legal matter to be settled before handing down any additional punishment
Yes that was for his 4th pot bust. if this conviction was for pot, which it could have been. The arresting officer said he smelled pot in the car. This would be an automatic 10 game suspension.
This is for a violation of the personal conduct rule. Probably starting the season off with another 4 game suspension
No way does he get 4 games for traffic fines at most 2 if he gets anything at all..
This year's 4 game suspension was mandatory according to the leagues substance abuse policy after his 4th positive test.He may, but didn't he already do that in the first four games this season? Wouldn't that be double jeopardy?
Agree something will happen, but 4 games for traffic fines is unlikely. I think after the Brady ruling, the commissioner has been knocked down a peg. The likely result is a1 game suspension.NFL doesn't care what the court says. Look at the Ray Rice thing, dropped charges, NFL still tried to hammer him.
Arresting officer said he smelled pot. NFL can't tag it on his drug busts, but they can hit him for conduct detrimental to the league.
In all honesty if I was a judge and a guy was in front of me who was doing 143 MPH with a kid in the car, while evading the cops, He'd be going to jail.
That's just me

Maybe you should send the Kids dad to jail that let him go along for the ride.. What Sheldon did was dumb but not the same as knocking out your GF that was on tape in a elevator..
what he did was very wrong
BUT, there is a glass houses issue - in the absence of criminal charges how many other players, coaches, owners have in their recent past things that are in the same general range of very wrong?
I'm seeing a greivance if he gets time and others in similar situations dont.
Doing 100+ MPH over the speed limit, with a child in the car, while evading police, probably while smoking pot, is much worst then getting in a drunken brawl with your girl friend.
Worst that can happen to your girl friend is a black eye. Worst that can happen to the child is the end of his life. Actually doing 143 MPH through city streets is not only likely to kill some one, but probable.
Noteven close to the same. Richardson should have gotten jail time
Thank you flgreen. I was wondering if this entire discussion would be about how this will effect the Jets next season.
There are things bigger than football and me pesonally, I feel no "Relief" from this at all.
I dont find "Relief' in the fact that our justice system failed again, I dont find "Relief' in the fact that this guy can do as he pleases and get slapped on the wrist, and I dont find "Relief" in the thought that the next time this asshole wants to do a stunt like this his car may be barraling toward a car driven by one of my daughters.
Glad the Jets keep their lineman though. That's what's important, right?

How is that double jeopardy for driving 143 in a police chase with a minor and pot odor in the car?

No, that's what makes Richardson such an idiot. His 4 game suspension shocked everyone, he apologized to fans, then like 2 days later this story came out. I'm sure it surprised everyone. The story was that he didn't even tell the Jets, and he lied to the team.Fair point. Two offenses, two separate penalties. I thought the latest offense was considered by the league in handing down the four games. Guess I was wrong.
Yea. ..many times cops throw you a bone instead of piling on. Like a kid who over doses, the papers all say it was heart attack.Since we keep repeating all these red herring charges and convicting him of them I think we should stick to some facts
There were NO charges regarding pot or any other substances. The car was thoroughly searched by forensic specialists and NO illegal drugs found in the car or on the occupants
There were no GUN related charges filed by the police or anyone
Yes, he is guilty of driving too fast and trying to evade arrest and for being young and stupid
He deserves a suspension
But you would think from some of theae posts from the JFU hangmen that he was OJ Simpson caught with a bloody knife in his hand or Aaron Hernandez and his serial homocides
