petty learning from fitz is the best outcome of this season

For Geno to say he doesn't regret anything and he doesn't think he did anything wrong shows us how off he is. His maturity, character and leadership obviously hasn't grown one bit since draft day. Shame because he probably could have been an excellent player if he ever could have gotten the mental aspect of the game right but isn't that the case with alot of players in the league. SMH!

Maybe Geno will find some success elsewhere like many Jet players have after being written off by Jet fans. Jay Cutler still has a job.

if a former jet has success elsewhere, the jets would also have written those players off as well, no??

That's how I see it, too. I don't think Petty has the complete confidence of the CS to let it rip in a real game. It would be a predictable run-heavy offense. That's not a criticism of Bryce, it's just a reality IMO. He's a project who COULD be a solution in a few years.

I'm not a fan of Geno's behavior, but while he's a Jet I'll root for him if he's in there. I don't really care about being right or wrong about the guy. If he's playing, I want him to succeed because he wears the Green and White. I don't see much value in thrashing the guy while he's still here.
Well said. I am a Jet fan only and will root hard for whoever is in there.
BTW - An interesting article today about Fitz constantly communicating away from the facility with his WRs about plays, routes, etc. Decker said it was like that with Peyton and Marshall loves it as well. A great demonstration of leadership from the QB position that I hope Smith and Petty are paying attention to if they want to succeed in this league. It's not just physical ability!

If Fitz were to get hurt during game then Petty would come in and hand the ball of to Ivory and Powell, the Jets would then sign a veteran during the week. In a couple of weeks Petty will be inactive.

On the other hand do you know who has the record for least running plays in a regular season game?? The Pats with just 6 running plays in 2004.. I think 2 or 3 other teams tied that in history but it was in the 50's or earlier..

15 i'm not trying to be funny but from what we continue to hear/read about smith's maturity level do you really have faith smith thinks he can learn anything from fitzpatrick??

i have a much easier time believing smith thinks he's better than fitzpatrick, so what could he show/teach me??

You may be 100% correct, my hope is that he learns some humility and pays attention.

i don't believe smith is capable of humility, at least until the jets cut him anyway..

his quotes about getting his jaw busted were "I don't regret anything.." & "i don't think i did anything wrong.." LOLz wut?? mind you, this is after weeks of time to think about not sounding like a petulant defiant man child the first time you speak publicly about how & why you lost your starting job as an NFL QB..

we all have enough information on the subject here at JFU to say those quotes are child like at best & delusional at worst, at least IMO..

my hope is smith never takes a meaningful snap for jets ever again & good luck to whoever tries to get something out of him going forward..

i'm very comfortable saying i've seen enough..

A Tom Brady comes along once in a lifetime and since no fan base has suffered at the hands of Tom Brady as much as Jet fans, it's only fair the next one is on the Jets.

No matter how much talent smith has, if he acts childish like this, he will not have the support of his team. In a sport of millionaire children, the qb is the one position that must set the example, be responsible, and act like a grown up!
Anything short of that and you have a fair weather team.
