...earlier today with and Bruce Murray and Rich Gannon. Started by dating in no uncertain terms that he wants to stay a Jet, and repeated it several times in a 10-minute interview. Said the team wants him too, but he understands that it's a business - but he really hopes that they get it done. Also said that money really isn't the most important factor to him, wherever he goes (for whatever that's worth). Said finding a team that is a fit for his game, and winning, are his top priorities. Other notable items:

He loves Bowles, and said the whole team does - in particular he said that, having no experience with anyone other than Rex, he asked several of the veterans what they were thinking, and they were all really happy with his first season, felt it was a good time to be a Jet.

He and the team thought he handled the IK / Geno situation well, they all knew where he stood on anything/anyone that wasn't good for the team - that you'd be gone.

I hope the Jets make a fair offer to him.......He deserves a good offer and long term deal....

HE is a huge key to the defense and I am not sure he is as easily replaceable.... If I had to choose one person to lose out of Richardson, Wilk, Snacks and Williams..... It has to be Richardson... Just my two cents

Always happens, but after hearing him talk about the Jets, I want him to stay. We've seen through the years how tough it is to find a guy like him at that position, even if he doesn't stand out like Mo.

If Mac can bring back Snacks & give Mo a new contract, let's just give him the exec of the year for two years in a row.

I would also be inclined to trade Sheldon to say Cleveland to bring Joe Thomas here to be a staple a RT as was suggested by bleacher report two months ago.

But he knows because of probable salary cap implications and Geno being the probable starter at that point in time, that cutting him would not be beneficial for the team.

NOW, however, is a far different story. The Jets have found their starter for 2016. The Jets are a years farther removed from Geno's contract. Mike MacCagnan is probably frothing at the mouth, right along with Snacks, to finally rid themselves of that POS. I can't see any way Geno lasts with the team into the 2016 season.

Does your knowledge extend to the draft, or is it limited to how they will handle the players that are under contract? Who will they take at #20?

So is this your lame attempt at defending Geno Smith? If it is, you're a fool for even trying. There is no defending him. He's a punk and everyone knows it including Damon Harrison. Players that are developed due to superior training and diet like Damon Harrison has been. Taken from a less than desirable outlook for work and brought into the spotlight, the very best of stages, the NFL. The guy also gets millions no less for being cheered by an adoring crowd whenever he makes a big play.

That makes those people LOYAL and GRATEFUL. I know I would be. Wouldn't YOU???

From there, they want the organization that brought them from the ashes and brought him to the pinnacle of success to be HARMONIOUS. They do whatever they have to insure that everything goes smoothly. That the great team that took a chance on him goes on to be happy about their gamble.

It's like second nature, instinctual, for a guy like a Damon Harrison to want troublemakers off the team. And the jury is in as much you could try to disagree, Geno Smith IS a troublemaker. He's a locker room cancer and anyone with a brain on their shoulders knows it.

So common sense would tell you he wants him off the team, not only from the standpoint of winning. Because Geno Smith SUCKS as a QB and everyone, no one less than the players, KNOWS it personally and up front. They also know that he brought great embarrassment to the organization that took a chance on him and made him what he is today.

Did you hear the interview? It sounds like you are making presumptions about a conversation and intentions you never heard.

He said dumping ik set an example, and everyone knew where they stood. As in, act professional or get spanked.

Anyone who says it's not about the money, is ALL about the money. Otherwise, we can expect him to turn down a larger offer to stay here.

Where every player becomes such a fan of the team they play for that hometown discounts are the norm, and guys like Revis and Jason Taylor wouldn't dream of jumping to a hated division rival. You know, in a place where all of this isn't pretty much just a job to them.

they consider themselves to part of the same fraternity/independent contractors & for the most part i can't blame them..

Don't get me wrong, I don't blame them at all. Nobody is loyal to the players, certainly not the owners, and even the fans are mostly loyal to the teams. I might root due a guy like Snacks to do well and have a nice career if he leaves, but I'd never want him to best the Jets or anyone currently wearing our laundry. I've always followed Cotchery, thought he was one of the good guys in this league, hoped he'd do well in the SB, but when he was with Pitt I didn't want him to get a single catch against us.
