SNY: What should the Jets do with the #2 pick in the draft?

Really depends on how they honestly feel about Darnold. If they believe he can improve in the new system and is better than this years QB class, they should trade down . Maybe to 5 and get multiple picks from Cincinnati, this year and next. Depending on how the board falls, could possibly even trade down again adding another couple of picks. Would be in position then for a top WR, CB, RB, and a couple IOL. Would still have multiple picks in the top 100 and 3 First plus numerous top 100 picks next year. If they believe in one of this years QBs not named Trevor, they should draft him and continue building around him.
Sam is a terrific kid. Caught some bad breaks as a Jet. I'd love to see him succeed. Elsewhere.
Southern California quarterbacks are....well there one that comes to mind that sort of succeeded, Carson Palmer.
I don't have faith in Justin Fields at the next level. Could I be mistaken? Won't be the first time, but I'd like Wilson, and draft away with our remaining picks. Enjoy your Monday, all.

I say draft the Fields or Wilson & keep Darnold......it is that important......then get rid of the one that stinks up the joint.....or both of them lol

I am no fan of Darnold, but we're talking about taking a gamble on Wilson because the talking heads have deemed him special . I compare what we can get with that #2 pick either by taking the big tackle or by trading the pick while keeping Darnold vs gambling on Wilson who's on the smaller side and decent .
In the interest of full discloser, i had a similar thought on Mahommes and look how that turned out .

Look we have Dunderhead, we can have Sidney Fields, We can have Good ole Mr Wilson. We could have two of them..........We might be able to trade up & get Lawrence....I mean offer enough with ghost face thrown in ...who knows.
Lets face it we have three chances to get it right......better then lets make a deal. Add in the L man & we might have four chances.

Trade down with either Atlanta, Philly, Carolina or all 3 and add extra draft picks and #1's for next season.
Curious as to why a safety, particularly at 23? For me it would be Slater and top edge or CB at #23.
None of the edge guys are as talented as this kid at that spot . Now we could move up if say Rousseau drops, but my target at Edge is really Patrick Jones on day 2 who i think can learn from a Vet for a year (Melvin Ingram)on a 1 year deal . Moehrig is really talented and would allow Maye to return to his more natural safety position in the center field .
Honestly I want to trade the #2 pick , Get a bunch of good picks this year and take a QB next year where we could have 3 1st round picks and control the draft. Maybe I'm just being too patient but If we had 3 first rounders we could pull off getting whoever we wanted at that time.
We can always take a late round flyer on say a Mills, Costello or Newman this year if e have to scratch that itch .
Draft Wilson....... but alas..... just have a feeling were going to trade down and keep Darnold another season. it will definitely speed up the rebuild. JD wants picks .... and we aren’t going anywhere this season anyways ... Wilson or not... then it would be Pitts and best IOL at 23
