So now we have a pissed off Dolphins team to contend with

So many of you are overly concerned with Suh ~vs~ Winters, the Jets coaching staff can gameplan that to a point where if they take Suh out of the game based on his own talents and his overmatch on Winters. A good OC knows how to gameplane this

My big concern with the Pats is that their offensive strength matches well with out biggest defensive weakness, and that is coverage of backs and TEs. I'm hoping that TB can mask that weakness by replacing a coverage liability like Davis/Coples/Pace with a safety, or however he deems appropriate. Key will be inside pressure with Mo/Leo/Richardson/Coples and perhaps a safety blitz every now and then to keep Brady off his spots. Should be an interesting chess match.

That's not necessarily true any more. It was for years, but now the Jets have Calvin Pryor. This guy was drafted to be an enforcer. He was drafted to defend TE's including Gronk over the middle of the field. Pryor was utilized out of position last season because the Jets did not have any viable personnel in their secondary. This year Pryor is back to his original SS spot. Lets see how effective Gronk is now. He's going to be effective, yes, but how much remains to be seen.

Good news is that Decker, ivory and Revis are all looking like they are going to play this Sunday. This team needs that.

If they are coming off a loss, they are angry/desperate and if they are coming off a win, they are on fire/firing on all cylinders.

I guess we have to hope teams are coming off a tie???

Or we stop worrying about the state of mind of another team (which the Jets cannot control) and just hope Bowles has our team ready for all scenarios.

spot on!!!

So it's reported that if the Jets win this Sunday, Philbin will most likely be fired.

With all due respect, anyone penciling in losses before we play has no confidence in this Jets team. We've always played hard against them. Brady hasn't faced Todd bowles. The defense will be at full strength with Sheldon back in there. Our defense is one of the best in the NFL.

Are the Pats great, absolutely..can we compete with them and beat the? We've done it before and we sure as hell can do it again.

As far as Buffalo. I'am still not convinced they're better than us. The more the season wears on, the more Rex will make the same undisciplined mistakes he made here. Bowles will have the team more focused as the weeks become more competitive.

I don't get too worked up against penciling, this is not like voodoo, a fan can voice concern of any team and it doesn't come true because of it.

The Pats, Belichick, and Brady have a way of paying back teams that disrespect them. It's not voodoo, they have a track record of it, they do it for a living. A few jets have mouthed off about Deflategate.

Most fans here pay way too much attention to the Pats, the Jets will play 14 (FOURTEEN) games against teams that are not called the Patriots. Get the Pats out of your brain!

But.... Your the one who brought up the Pats in the first place.

That was a confusing post my friend. Pats...jets...witch craft and pencils.

Can we get back to talking football?

I have a bad feeling about this game. I'm thinking the Jets will lose a close one and revitalize the Dolphins season. Sucks to be a Jets fan. I've yet to see a Jets team in recent memory that rises to met the challenge of big games and this is a big game.

If the Jets lose this game, it's going to be on Bowles. Your right, this is a big game for this team. The Dolphins aren't in love with their coach, and I think they are hoping he gets fired.

The only spot I think the Fish have a major advantage is at D T, with Suh. Scheme should be able to compensate for that.

Jets have been coming out looking lethargic . Bowles has to have them ready in the 1st period. They are not a team that can come back from big deficit's.

They need to play for 60. Get on top, and make teams chase them. Then the pass rush, and secondary can get the turn overs.

Fish are down. Bowles needs to have them put the boots to em.

Agreed with all of this. Very good post. However, I do not think the Jets have a disadvantage at DL. I do believe Suh can do some damage if not watched and double teamed, but one DL does a DL make.

Really, I think our big problem against the Dolphins is that our offense is paper thin and insufficiently talented. Coming off the Eagles game, we find out a lot about this team on offense. They are paper thin at WR and OL. beyond some good to pretty good starters, the Jets have ZERO depth. Once the starters go down, this team is toast. Throw in the fact that our QB is below average as far as league standards go and you can see why there would be so much concern.

Like you said, this team must start fast. Just like when Schotty, Tony Sparano, and Marty Morninweg were running the offense, this team is a NOTORIOUSLY slow starting team. Almost every game the defense is tasked with playing the entire 1st quarter. The offense just goes 3 and out all the time.

The Jets winning formula will NEVER change this season and it is as follows:

1) The offense MUST start faster. They have to get Chris Ivory going early.
2) NO turnovers. Even faster than the offense going 3 and out an even surer way to lose to give the ball up. The Jets are not built to withstand mistakes also.

From there they must keep the QB out of the central game plan. They need to win with the running game. They need other contributions from other RB's besides just Chris Ivory also. Ryan Fitzpatrick, because he cannot avoid turnovers, must merely protect the ball, and take what the defense gives him. He can't be trusted beyond that.

If the Jets fall behind by more than two scores, they are done. There's no such as coming back with this team. They are incapable.
