Throw in Mack and I do it in a heartbeat... ;) Mack was one of my top 3 favorite players from last year's draft.

Unfortunately that will never happen, Raiders wouldn't be that stupid to trade Mack for Mo. They may entertain a 1st or 2nd rounder though.

last time we did this type of trade with Oakland, we got Mike Nugent, Doug Jolley, and a pile of heartburn. They owe us one.

Let's see if we can get Luck and a first for a seventh and Milliner, while we're at it.

Let's get back to the original idea...Mo for their #1 straight up. Seems to me both teams would benefit. The Raiders D could use the help and the Jets could potentially get their franchise QB or help on the O-line.

A lot depends on whether the Raiders think they will compete this year or not. If they don't, they won't do it. If they do, they will, as Mo helps them compete and it will more likely be a later first.

I think if you have really good players, you keep them. My personal opinion is the Jets should resign Wilkerson. I get that we drafted Williams, but having this kind of depth on the d-line gives this defense the chance to be dominant for years to come. We're not paying big $ for a QB, so we can afford to keep him. He's one of the best 3-4 DEs in football, you keep guys like that.

While not explicitly stated, I think the premise of the thread is positioning ourselves for a franchise QB next year.

I'm not sure there's ANYONE who's untouchable if you think you can get your hands on one of them . . .

I dont 100% agree. Raiders have an improved roster and a division on the decline. Broncos roster lost almost its entire oline...Chargers run game is a mess and Weddle is holding out...and KC drafted well...but continue to not address oline despite losing 2-3 starters annually. They also still have alex smith...which is neither good or bad.

I think the Raiders win 7-8 games next year. Sorry, but I dont think they're a lock top 10 pick any more. I'd ask for a 1 and 3 or a 1 and player(s).

A 1 for Mo is not enough unless you know it is top 20...I dont think we know that right now. give me a 1 and 3 and the deal is done.

Unless Sack's Luck for Milliner trade goes through...then no deal for Oakland. :)

I agree. And you can control him for the next three years without giving him a new contract. This year, as the last year of his contract, and two tagged years. The Jets are under no obligation to cave to his demands right now. It's a part of the process playing out.

agreed...but that has become a tired argument. People on this thread will say trade him, and on the williams thread the same posters say drafting Williams has no impact on needing to trade Wilkerson. Its a tired debate. Your stance has been my stance on wilkerson the entire time.

Pretend the williams drafting never happened and get the deal done...like should have been done before we drafted williams. If we're going to pretend we took BPA regardless of position...which we keep saying, then do what you would have done if you didnt draft williams and lock up Mo. Anything else shows you drafted Williams as leverage vs Mo...and they werent as independent deicsions as was led on...because if we didnt draft Williams, we'd surely "need" Mo and get the deal done.

In my eyes, both sides need each other as long as money is less than $45 mill...over $45, and these trade talks should become real.

Agreed, but I think short term and long term cap hits would be better if we locked him up and next year's cap situation becomes more tolerable if this deal gets done sooner than next year at this time, you know? We dont want Mo with a $15 mill cap number on the next two caps, IMO.

Oh, it's ideal to try to get it done as quickly as possible. But they have the bargaining chips right now.

I think the best move is to re-sign him. However, previous management often failed to have contingency plans in place. I think a trade for a high to mid first round pick would be a good plan.
