Geno Smith was asked only a few questions by reporters. He was wearing this hat:

While fighting for his job as a New York Jets quarterback, Geno Smith wore a hat that said “Zero Friends.” Not exactly a good look.

Isn’t it ironic that the quarterback who is so difficult to like wears a hat that says, “Zero Friends” on it? I looked it up and found that “Zero Friends” is actually a brand, but how great does it look to wear that during a press conference?

It starts with the fans. They boo him before he even takes a snap on the field, and in the preseason no less.

I also don’t think it was a coincidence that no one came to his rescue last year when IK Enemkpali broke his jaw. He’s not extremely well-liked in the locker room, so “Zero Friends” is probably a good representation of his relationship with the team.



He’ll be the first to wonder why he can never seem to win over the team or the fanbase. Stuff like this probably has something to do with it. You just can’t make this stuff up.

I still think the Jets carry four QBs this year, but after this year Geno will be gone. And I don’t think anyone will miss him all too much.

but this guy is extremely close to graduating from creepy to disturbing..

He's sending a message that he really doesn't want to be here, and really his body language has been awful since we re-signed Fitz. I think he had his hopes up that he was getting another chance to start, and he took it hard when Fitz was re-signed. Now he clearly wants out, wants a fresh start with another team, and I hope we give it too him.

In 2013 through April of 2014 I lived in San Diego. While I was there I used to go to Henry's Pub on 5th street to watch the game. NY transplants there and they decided to make Henry's a NYJ hangout.

Anyway, while I was there I would talk to this woman that just so happened to be Brian Winters aunt. She always told that Brian was such a great kid. Just a nice kid and a bit of a redneck. Like hunting, fishing, etc.. He seemed like my kind of guy.

Anyway, she would get texts from him all the time after being drafted by Idzik. Winters said he liked everyone on the team except ONE person......Any guess who that one player was?

I am not sure why they would want to keep Geno around... He has a double negative affect on this team... One he is a blocker for the progression of both Petty and Hack.... And two he is a cancer in the locker room with all this BS.. Keeping him around does not send a good message to the team.

This finale vs Philly should be a fun one to watch. Typically the last pre-season game is normally a bummer and not worth even watching. Though i feel Fitz wont even suit up and neither will Geno (as they already know what they have in him).

Thinking Bryce will get the first three quarters to gauge where his progression is from year one to year two in 3/4 of game time. Then of course, Hack would have the entire 4rth quarter.

Then Saturday will be a very interesting day on what the Jets do with their back up QBs situation.

In all fairness, it must have been quite the kick in the nuts when Fitz walked in at the last second "sorry I'm late coach" LOL

Actually I love the Birds game. Get to see all the young guys you won't see the rest of the year , if ever. They are flying around trying to get a spot at least on the PS.

As weird as Bowles has run this non-competition, QB competition, don't be surprised if you see smith.

That was one of his knocks coming into the league out of West Virginia. He was cocky and some of his teammates weren't too fond of him. When those reports came out, his head coach at the time (forgot his name and really didn't want to waste my time googling it..lol) came out defending Smith. Yet, the scouts were the ones who did their due diligence and reported these claims.
Of course Smith year one here was goody two shoes, but in time it was evident that those rumors were true to the bone.

This is the first year ever in his pro NFL career that he had to claw his way to be on the team. Hell, it was almost given to him again had Fitz not re-signed. Yet, now facing competition from 2nd year pro Bryce petty and a quite possible trade, he's chosen a selfish role as in:

1st-Boycotting against the media

then....

2nd wearing a stupid hat stating he has "no friends"?

Really??!! I just don't get when a player is on the bubble and hot seat why they just don't let humility take over instead of cutting all ties and burning bridges with everyone. He should know being self centered is what got him disliked in the first place. Guys like Geno and The Rebellious Colin Kaepernick are just complete morons for doing what they are currently doing.

When a GM who knows what he's trying to accomplish sees a player that turns into a "SPOLIGHT ME" instead of the team 1st attitude rise up, there is just one route to choose and that's a one way ticket out of here. Those GM's are the ones who keep their teams respectable.

Just look at the draft. He thought he was going to be the #1 pick. When he fell out of the 1st round, he stormed out of Radio City and told the media he wasn't coming back for round 2. His agent had to force him back---the agent he fired 3 days after the draft. Big mistake taking him

Each appears humble, mature, team oriented, respectful of Fitz and their position on the team, bright and physically gifted. Smith appears to lack all of those traits other than the physically gifted part. MM apparently has a QB mold in mind, and it appears that Smith doesn't fit so I would not be surprised if he is not on the team opening day. My only hesitation is that MM/TB are not convinced that Petty is ready for emergency duty. This team is about ready to compete at the highest level, and they can't risk that. We can debate all we like about Petty being just as good as Smith, but only MM/TB/CG's opinion matters in that regard.
