The Honey Badger is a microsoymism of the Jets franchise for nearly five decades

Thank You LOL, and I would gladly have that drink with you too!

That said, have to admit, I'm feeling way more optimistic now that we traded up to 3 for a young FQB.

I am too......The teams is growing .....players GM & i hope the coaches too....We shall see.

This trade makes Bridgewater and McCown seem more like overkill, that McCown money would have been much better spent on the Honey Badger, then maybe start Teddy for a year. But whatever, whats done is done, I'm just happy we didn't delude ourselves into thinking we were set at QB and traded up to insure we get our young FQB. The price was high, but in the end nobody will care what we paid if we get our FQB.
They're treating Bridgewater and McCown as one QB. I think that's smart. They may have 1 of the 2 available for just about every game this year if they need them.

Ideally McBridge starts no more than 4-5 games then the rook is ready to go, then 2019-2038 we're all in on the new guy.

Reports are the Badger took less from Houston than Arizona offered.

if bowles is playing a rookie QB week 5 or 6, my guess would be one of two things will have happened..

woody's brother insists on playing the rookie around that time, or bowles lands on his head getting out of the shower..

defending bowles & the 5 wins again, huh..

if nothing else, you're consistent..

Ugh I wanted Ty
I have to Agee
back to back 5 win seasons nothing to really defend no matter what the spin is
I "enjoyed" 3 back to back to back 3-11 seasons in the 70s
dont know if a can handle 3 back to back to back 5-11 seasons if thats what happens
Are we still using the rebuild , groom the next long term QB excuse?
And if we go Darnold , another ugh

Bridgewater is at $5 million base salary with incentives. Should he reach those incentives, He will be worth far more than $15. We would have several options such as working out a long term deal, tagging him, tag and trade. The very worst case situation is he doesn't reach any incentives and he signs someplace else giving us a compensatory pick. The QB position has been an issue since Vinny and Chad. How you can complain about it finally being addressed is beyond me.
With Bowles connection to Tyrann Mathieu, the Jets could have easily signed him. There is obviously a reason they decided to pass. Likely the same reason the Cards let him go and he didn't have much of a market.
There are plenty of holes to address. Once that happens, you can add luxury pieces.
There will be plenty of players and cap space next year too. Mac is doing the right thing with FA signings. Winning the off season doesn't translate to winning.

Then why was everyone bashing the front office when Snacks left, if they were all hype and not much production?

i think more people, in hindsight, were bashing the fact that he let the wrong DLineman go to a different team. I have to agree with FLgreen on this one. Our dline was always the top at stopping the run but they didnt cause to much havoc when getting to the QB. The potential was there though

The Jets stripped their roster down, and were projected by many to lose more than 11 games. (Some said “will the Jets win a game in 2017?). You can say “these guys have had three years” but not all those years were the same to start with. When you slash payroll, cut all the problem children, release aging stars, and start the season missing a lot of talent at vital positions, how can you call for a coach’s head?

This team will never have sustained success as long we’re part of the 3-5 year hiring and firing cycle so typical of bad to mediocre teams. We need continuity up top, and a franchise QB. We’re going to address the latter on April 26th. I believe the jury is still out on Macc/Bowles.

I personally dont follow all the tag rules , But The guys on WFAN thought they couldnt tag him for some reasonn

This is a 2 year deal for Mac. Hopefully get The Right qb here, Then Next Year Fill In The Rest Of the holes. Just Have To Hope The Qb Is A Hero From Day 1 once the holes are filled and he starts

The benefit of hindsight. Wilkerson had a good year prior to his contract extension. He looked like a player on the rise of being a dominant player. A tough decision had to be made (at the time) and unfortunately we made the wrong one. But nobody knew Wilkerson would become a lazy sack after that. Macc had no way of knowing he’d get burned by Mo.

I agree. Tough decision but it was the wrong one. And in our division, if you can't get to the qb, you might as well stay home... For at least 2 games anyway

I agree but what worries me is that according to reports Mo was giving the coaching staff a hard time and showing late to meetings proving that he didn't buy into this regime. That is a red flag to me for the type of person that he may become. I think a logical thought process would be:

If he's doing that when he isn't even signed long term to a lucrative deal. Imagine what he would do when he's paid.

People can't change. They can change for a short time but eventually they revert to what they've always been.

Maybe Bowles will be able to get his message across now that all of Rex's guys are gone. Is there anyone left from Rex's time? Maybe only Enunwa, i can't think of anyone else.

I think Mac gets a mulligan for the first year. In all likelihood, Woody had a big hand in those ridiculous, bloated contracts for Revis and friends. His second year was tough to watch as a result of those contracts. 5-11 was brutal for us and the games were unwatchable. Although the results were the same last year, I really enjoyed watching these guys play. There was a significant difference on the field, if not in the results. This is the year to truly judge Mac and the entire organization. He has made many solid moves this off season and I expect it to show on the field and in the results. I think there will be much excitement around this team come September. Let's see how much excitement there will be in December.

Keep in mind, also, that Wilkerson was a first round draft pick coming off a solid year, and Damon Harrison was an undrafted FA signing who had much lower expectations. He also played a position that’s typically viewed as a place you put fat bodies to fill space. Wilkerson was a great run-stuffing DE who showed an ability to get to the QB a little bit, too (in 2015). The Sheldon Richardson situation helped facilitate this, too. He was driving around 140 mph with guns, weed, and a minor in the car, and being a complete jackass. Making the decision that much easier for Macc.

If Macc had let Wilkerson walk and re-signed Snacks, there would’ve been a sea of criticism at that time from fans and media alike.
