Where have you people been? This is where you guys hide? Don't blame you, the Scout network is awful.

Anyway, just hunted you guys down to express how jealous I am that Hackenberg is a Jet. Love the kid. Has all the tools in the world yet was coached terribly at Penn State. At quick glance he reminds me of Peyton (physically, the look, etc). Born to be a QB. Was never a fan of when he decides to run rather than sit in the pocket yet, to me, he just looks like a QB. Everything about him say QB.

Congrats - it might take a little while but if he's coached well I can't see his head not connecting the dots. I think he can be great.
Thanks for the vote of confidence and ofcourse, we hope he will turn out to be great as well. I'm guessing your a Giants fan?

I agree with you but lets remember Geno was completing 70% of his passes in college and Russel Wilson was below 60% his first 3 years of college and his senior year he was much better. Scouts ripped him and said his accuracy was bad because of his size and he wouldn't make it in the NFL.

Both good points on smith and Wilson.

My real problem with the pick is where it was made. I understood Petty's problems coming into the NFL, but in the 4th round I thought he had excellent value from a risk reward standpoint, and he improved much from the senior Bowl to the pre-season Atlanta game where IMO he played very well.

If Hackenberg was selected where Cook was selected, who I liked better, I would also be more excited about the pick. IMO he went to high.

I'm not going to beat up on the kid, I love his natural arm talent, but the 2 years of bad film, and I've watched a lot of Penn St's games, is hard to forget.

For now, I am going to defer to Macc's superior discernment and see if the kid can make the same kind of improvement that Petty did coming into camp. Macc must really love the guy to give of a 2nd for him with the needs the Jets have.

If he's right, IMO the Jets will be in an excellent QB situation moving forward. Particularly if they can get Fitz signed , and "get a bag of rocks" for smith in next years draft

Yea I understand how everyone feels about taking Hackenberg int he 2nd but I'm gonna trust Mac like you said.. I think this maybe the best QB situation we have ever had if we get Fitz signed.

This was a game i watched last season on Hackenberg. This play (gotta fast forward to 3:50), the O-Line breaks down and this kid is disciplined to make somethin out of nothing.

I honestly feel when its all said and done, we got something special right here:

Yup, NYG fan. Was posting quite often the NYG might want to grab him in Round 2. Certainly grab him in Round 2 if they obtained another pick (there was a lot of talk the NYG would move back).

The way he changes calls reminds me a bit of Peyton. Nobody is Peyton but he has some similarities. With Eli aging and about 1/3 of all the good QB's in the league closer to retirement within a few years I said go get him b/c the supply is much less than the increasing demand. Just look what the Rams and Eagles gave up for a shot at a Qb. This is just the beginning IMO.

I love the kid and think he was terribly coached. Unlike Josh Mettenberger, who reminds me of Kerry Collins, I think Hackenberg has a brain. Jets are a QB away IMO and this was worth the risk. Adding on those linebackers with that DL, wow.

How come when the page automatically reloads posts just disappear?

It makes it impossible to read the longer posts, I get half way thru them, the page reloads, and POOF, the post is gone.

I saw some bad OL play and some drops...

this is the reason they drafted this kid because of the potential he has... the last two seasons he had no offensive line, was under pressure all the time and was getting hit repeatedly... if the Jets could get this kid back to when he was a freshman at Penn State and continue his development he could be something special...

It is set to auto update every 15 seconds....Maybe thats why
Yeah I know, but when it does whole posts just disappear, scroll up or down and the post is gone. I have to manually reload the page for the post to come back, but then I start reading it again, the page auto reloads again, and the post is gone again. It makes it impossible to read the longer posts.

Thanks for the vote of confidence all around. Those LBs are impressive, especially our 1st round pick IMHO. I'm liking the CB and OL we picked also. Two more draft picks to go. Feels like the upper management definitely filled the needs of the team, if not for depth atleast. Now the players have to produce, especially Hack because we may need him to play this year. If Fitz doesn't come back or BETTER YET, Fitz comes back and Hack beats him out anyway (wishful thinking I know) then Hack will be our QB. I do realize he probably needs a full year to sit, watch and learn. How do you think the Giants did? That 1st-round CB is definitely a 1st-rounder but might be a reach at the #10 pick? Thoughts

sorry about that. I don't think it ultimately disappears. It might go to a previous page. I'm not a big fan of this auto reload myself but we will find a better solution to make sure the comments keep uploading and making it a seamless experience when on the site.

after a certain number of posts the page splits to the next page... it shouldn't jump reloading it should automatically just post the next submission... will be looking into another option after today...

sorry for the inconvenience...

The more videos I watch the more impressed I get and I'm starting to like this kid. Love his pocket pressure and awareness. Got a gun too but knows how to use that soft touch and throw his receivers open. I'm guessing this was video clips from his freshman year? I'll hold out real judgment until I see him on the field as a Jet.

Thought: Imagine if this kid could have played as well his 2nd and 3rd year like he did his 1st? If only Obrien would have stayed at PSU, it seems pretty clear if he did stay (whether they went through all the sanctions and other stuff) Hack would have stayed on that excellent path and been a Ram right now as the #1 overall pick. So this REALLY might have worked out in our favor. Only time will tell.

His problem is his accuracy. During his freshman year, how was it then?

during the last two seasons he had poor accuracy but he was sacked 80+ times and hit over 150 times I would also throw the ball away with that type of crap protection...

during his freshman season, he showed the potential able to scan the field and cycle through his progression... his arm strength was the best attribute but the ability to dime passes to deep routes was spectacular to say the least... when the lane opened up he would tuck n run and slide instead of taking the unnecessary hit...

Hackenberg has the ideal physical build and height that most teams covets at the position... His arm strength is top notch with impressive velocity and zip... His deep ball ability is effortless and is able to make every throw in the route tree... After the last two seasons, what comes into question is the punishment he endured but he showed toughness to bounce back...

CH has short are quickness for his size to move inside the pocket to extend the play... He isn't afraid to tuck n run and has the smarts to slide instead of taking unnecessary punishment... Experience taking snaps under center in a pro style concept and is a 2 year captain showing leadership qualities that teams around the league respect... Excellent footwork either it be three' five' or seven' step drop-backs shows his ability to fit in any system at the next level...

Durable player - did not miss a game in three seasons...

Off the field no issues well respected player who gets involved with community...

This just seems to fly SO MUCH in the face of the PFF article that calls him "undraftable".

I'm too clueless to know who's right -- I'm just amazed there can be such a vast difference of opinion on the kid . . .
