Tony dungy built 2 super bowl teams around a simple yet effective defensive strategy. I'm not referring to the cover or Tampa 2 defense, but the actual players.
The philosophy was to have 3 elite players up the middle. Warren Sapp, Brooks, and lynch. Then fill in with others, not to mention ronde barber thrived in the Tampa 2 by being aggressive on blitzes and smart in coverage.
Dungy then did the same thing in Indianapolis.
What Mac had quietly assembled, is this same base of players. Leonard Williams up front, Daron Lee, and now Adams. I believe these guys are all smart 10 year players. Make no mistake, defense wins championships.
We might even have a little Tampa/ Seattle mix. 3 up the middle, and 2 very good safeties. I can't wait to see what happens...
