Big talk for a guy with several missteps this year that actually created some rifts in the locker room.

He needs to learn quick and don't repeat the gaffes he made this year. He has his work cutout for him, but he also needs to not shoot himself in the foot on the way.

I actually liked his press conference - thought he did a really solid job of communicating the plan for the organization. He's supposed to be top notch talent evaluator - so we'll find out over the next couple of years. I actually have a lot of faith in him. He's the best credentialed GM we've had in a long, long time.

He said what I wanted to hear and that means he at least knows what makes a winning franchise which no one else has understood leading this team. Now, can be make it happen? We can only hope. Anything from this past year I'm erasing as he came in at an awkward time. So go get 'em from here on out Joe(y)

Until he proves himself, Douglas is just another first time GM learning on the job. Especially after the disastrous last three, weird that we keep hiring first time GMs.

He's got a clean slate with zero experience . This off season will tell us exactly who he is. Not just him but the rest of the front office he assembled. Lots of experience , hopefully they put it to good use

I thought that he was pretty much straight forward about his philosophy for building the team. He may be a first time GM but he has been pretty involved in team building in the past so does have some experience. He is a highly respected, amoung his peers anyway, as a talent evaluator. I have high hopes that he can and will build us a competitive team so I'm at least going give him the benefit of the doubt.

I just hope that he does not put too much stock into the 6-2 finish and keep players who should be let go. Having said that, I do have very high hopes for him.

IF he builds the OL, trades bell for 2 (hopefully), cuts players that were injured and pushes the salary cap to around 75-80 mil. so he can prudently acquires talent in FA, then he is will have done an excellent job. .

True, but ultimately he will be judged by how well he drafts.

And how the FA talent he squires perform. Hopefully better than Kalil

Kalil certainly didn't work out but it's difficult for me to be to judgemental on that signing in light of Kalil's credentials and the signing only being a short term deal. Joe was trying to remedy a situation that was really hurting the "O" line and there wasn't much for him to work with at that point in time. I thought it was a good signing at the time but I was sure wrong there.

I'm more critical of his retention than his signing. Once it became clear that he was unable to grasp the play book and learn the protection calls, he should have been released. He had zero guaranteed money and it was clear early on he was a bad fit.

True, but he was probably, like many of us, hoping that the player he thought he hired would suddenly show up. Lesson learned from the experience I hope.

He was hoping the player hired would become a
the player he was a few years earlier. His injuries and regression in level of play were no secret.
Hopefully you are right about the lesson learned. Let's face it,our hopes rest on him.
