This is the season we find out re: Geno

The problem is going to be that Geno could play fantastic through the preseason, start in September and go on a 20 Td to no int streak. Then throw one interception and there will be people still coming out of the woodwork claiming, " See, I told you he was garbage." It's a no win situation.
For the record, personally I have no idea how Geno will do with this new CS and upgrade of those around him. I know for certain as much as the many self claimed Nostradamus on this site which is nothing. Can go either way. I HOPE that the light comes on for Geno, simply because I am a jets fan FIRST, and having our third year, young and physically gifted QB become an asset instead of a liability would be a very good thing for my team.
I agree. Most or some of us would like for Geno to succeed so the QB search for the next 10 (hopefully 15 years) will be done. None of us know how he will do but the coaches believe something. Whether they think he has it in him and can do it or they want to give him every chance to prove he can't and wash himself out. Time will tell and we all will be witness to it. Geno has no more excuses, excellent team around him now, class A coaches and management. That alone should help make him be better. Add in his two years experience of mistakes that hopefully he learned from and it made him tougher and we'll see. We shall see!

Chan offense he's designing is around what Geno does well. It's up to Geno to continue working with Gaily to get on the same page and make the right decisions. I'm just glad Gaily isn't just creating his offense and letting the best man win; instead, the offense is being built around Geno. Should be fun to watch. Game plans change weekly, so obviously if Geno falters, gaily will go the other way. But at least through training camp and preseason, we will see what Gaily does with Geno. That's all he can ask for in his final chance.

I guess it would be nice if that were true. Trouble is, he's creating an offense for the QB who will be starting in September and that QB is far from being determined

I realize you're being sarcastic, but it's statements like this that add nothing to the debate.

Do you REALLY think Geno could throw 20 straight TDs, then get crucified for his first pick? REALLY???

C'mon now. Is it really that out of the realm of possibility to look at Geno's first two years and think he may not have what it takes to be a top-flight NFL QB? Is it really that unreasonable to put some of the blame on him, instead of always pointing the finger at EVERY other possible source? Is it really impossible to have "grown-up" debate as we try to survive the next two months?

What kills me about you guys is EVERY ONE OF YOU start out singing Geno's praises, then finish with "of course I have no idea how he's gonna turn out" . . "this is his make or break year" . . . "Bowles will have a quick hook" . . .

Just stick to your guns. If you believe he's our future, great. If you're offended by anyone who doesn't agree, so be it. But you're not doing anything to support your argument when all you do is bash those in disagreement, then post the same doubt two sentences later . . .

Hold out hope, young grasshopper. Hold out hope.

You believe your newspaper reporter. Ill believe the words from Gaily. He was very definitive. The only person who will prevent Geno from starting week 1 is Geno or injury. No one else.

You run out to the store and buy your Fitzpatrick jersey, grab your ankles, and pray he starts week 1. And just remember, the only way that happens, is if Geno implodes in the preseason against vanilla defenses.

Even last year playing with garbage pail kids at WR (remember Decker was hurt last preseason) he was 23/33 268 yards 1 TD and 1 INT...now he has a stacked WR group and Gaily calling plays to his strength...

Im not worried he'll win the job...and you're not worried he'll lose it. You already have your bet he will lose...its a nice follow up from you saying he'll be cut.

You hold on to the newspaper reporters words and pretend Gaily is a liar. Ill believe in Gaily and Geno being able to work together. ;) You pray for our players failures. I wont stoop to that low.

I agree with you that he has been garbage for two years, but I've seen some glimpses of talent. You have to agree the talent around him was awful and I know you believe the CS was terrible. Those two things will ruin a QB. If its Geno as starter then I support the CS. If they decide it will be Fitzpatrick then I support that as well only because I think we have a roster good enough to win now. I'm not convinced that the CS is 100% behind Geno. I do think QB competitions are pretty stupid. Pick your QB and build your offense around him and let him take most of the reps with the first team. Gailey already has an offense for Fitz. It would be great if Geno became a viable starter for the next 10 years. Odds are he won't, but I'm willing to let the CS find out.

Never said he was a liar

Just that what he said is exactly what Slater reported

Certainly not even close to the unequivocal endorsement you and the rest of the Team 137 are claiming it is

Man, all I am really saying is Gaily is going all in on Geno right now. I think he gives Geno all camp, all preseason, and game plan specific Geno offense for 2-3 games. I think he goes all in on Geno for at least 2 weeks, likely 3. If he still looks like last 2 years Geno, he has a quick hook for Fitz. He knows how to build an offense for Fitz and can transition quickly. I just feel they're going to give Geno the benefit of the doubt long enough to see if he has progressed, with a possible quick hook after week 2 if he's dreadful.

Remember, we went into a season with Glen Foley with a quick hook for testerverde. But I think Geno has a chance to be successful. I am hopeful Gaily can get that out of him.

That's not a fair assessment saying stick to your guns.....Geno is younger and has more athletic ability..in a semi perfect world..he will be QB...if he demonstates that he doesn't or cannot handle it mentally....then hook him...I can see some people point blank thinking he is not answer..but what else do we have..a smart journeyman Qb with a propensity for picks also that is 5 years removed from his best season ???

Hands down..On MAy 24th..he is our best option..TO START WITH

WHY CANT PEOPLE FATHOM THIS IDEA????

its pretty simple..and they are debating decisions from NFL lifers and professionals in their field that are running the team and who I am sure analyzed all game tapes and watched all films of what they need to do to make the decision AT THIS POINT IN TIME....??

Agreed and this the way it should be. They can't allow Geno to mess this year up. They are a 10 win team at least with decent QB play. If Geno can do it and I believe he can then great. If he can't then pull him after week 3 I say and go with Fitz. Gives Fitz time for a full recovery as well. I'm all in on Geno because I realize what he was dealing his first two years. Plus I see he has true talent in him.

Not to say he had no fault in the first two years and didn't makes his mistakes. He's made tons of them but I believe and hope he's learned from them. Bowles and Mac will make the right choice whatever that might be. For right not it appears to Geno. Now he has to makes that decision stays that way with his play and leadership.

Just watched the last game of the year . If Geno can play half as well this year, we will be fine. Great throws, leading his WRs, Great deep balls . Let's cross our fingers

Remind me which days are your "quality post" days?

I really look forward to them and would rather just avoid having to weed through the crap ones you seem to get such a kick out of posting.

Thanks in advance . . .

I'm beginning to get a bit insulted by the implication that those of us who don't like Geno either don't understand the pro-Geno argument, or else are biased with secret, possibly racist, agenda. I'm sure it isn't intentional, but that's how it is coming across to me, anyway.
