Rodgers was a factor in 2018 and 2019 but saved his best for last as he hauled in 77 receptions for 1,020 yards and seven touchdowns during his final campaign at Clemson in 2020. The veteran of the receiving corps in 2020, Rodgers was the go-to guy for the Tigers’ offense during his last season.

Rodgers is a slot receiver that is built like a running back. He thrived with manufactured touches and then using his physicality, burst, vision, and decisiveness to work after the catch. As his production increased as a senior, so did his role in the offense. 2020 saw Rodgers produce more down the field in addition to his work in the short to intermediate areas of the field.

He has reliable hands, plays a physical brand of football, and is a good athlete. When it comes to identifying areas of growth for Rodgers, developing his route tree and finding more consistency when challenged at the catch point stand out. Rodgers lacks length and struggles to extend his catch radius which creates some limitations. Rodgers has a chance to be a featured slot receiver in the NFL for an offense predicated on timing.

Ideal Role: Primary slot receiver that gets some manufactured touches and opportunities to create in space while providing value with his punt return ability.

Scheme Fit: West Coast, Horizontal Spread.

Perfect fit and could be a decisive selection if they move on from Jamsion Crowder. Not saying they have to move on from Crowder but damn this kid would be ideal in this new offensive scheme and could be the QBs favorite target early and often...

rated late 4th early 5th round prospect

That's great value in the 4th or 5th round. I was thinking the UF WR - Toney would also be ideal for this offense, but he'll be a mid-mid 1st/2nd depending upon background checks and interviews. Not sure if we invest that much in a slot receiver.

I do believe they will try to re-sign Tarell Basham but will open the door for them to draft an EDGE guy not in the 1st round but possibly with their 2nd... Like Mims last year I expect Joe Douglas to trade down with that 34th pick picking up an additional 4th maybe 5th round pick...

The player currently on their board which is considered a 2nd rounder, quality EDGE guy that is athletic and has some ability to turn his speed into power is Patrick Jones II from Pittsburgh... Put PJ II at LE splitting time with Zuniga... Expect Huff to get a chance to start with Basham in rotation (if they re-sign him)...

in the new scheme Frankie Luvu looks the part has chance to start at one of the outside backer spot...

wouldn't mind seeing us take a chance on Trey Smith with our 2nd 3rd round pick to play RG, I doubt they will take him if he is still on board...
expect the first 3rd round to be used on Safety...

like I said previously with any trade downs expect JD to acquire another 4th which could be used on RB Demetric Felton...

Based on this, the Jets clearly need another 2nd round pick . In my studies, Jones is the only edge that shows multiple pass rush moves including the ability to bull rush an OT .
A decision needs to be made about either using this draft to build around Darnold or getting as many premium position players on both sides of the Ball as possible .

Jones is a speed rusher, has some ability to convert speed to power but it is his athleticism that makes him worth the pick...

Amari Rodgers slot receiver opens the door for the Jets to wait on a RB & TE they can focus on OL...
doubt we stay at 2 expect we trade down once maybe twice at pick 12 ish Rashawn Slater OT/OG that can play center
2nd 1st can be trade bait for a team looking to climb back in the 1st or the Jets can be greedy and take OT/OG Tucker, but same time there should be a TE, 2 quality top end WRs, 3 EDGE guys and 2 CBs that can be taken there

Jones II with the 2nd round pick sew up the DL, day 3 can find LBs a dime a dozen but expect us to fill needs in FA for the 2nd level of the defense... We aren't in need of a CB because Austin & Hall are 1st round talents due to injury fell to day 3... Guidry a UDFA played his ass off and could develop into a diamond in the rough talent...

I do see an issue at Safety, Davis had ups and downs last season... Maye a UFA seriously after that there is no guarantees at that position...

@Tinstar

Patrick Jones II
Analysis:
Jones needs to get stronger and fill out his frame for the NFL, but he has good speed and length off the edge. His best fit could come as a 3-4 outside linebacker as a pro. Some teams have Jones graded as high as Round 2 of the 2021 NFL Draft, while some others like him less and have him in the early fourth round.

I believe he is a late 2nd round early 3rd
would love him to fall to our 3rd round pick but that is a stretch
maybe moving around the 2nd round like we did for Mims last year could be in the cards...

Davis sort of surprised me in that respect. Given his athleticism I was expecting more somehow, but, sometimes that's how it goes.

we did get a surprise in Arthur Maulet switch from CB to Safety and he was on of the bright spots on the defense, but like many he is a UFA and wonder if they try to bring him back...

also kind of interested if Kyron Brown can compete for a spot...

Even if we pass on Sewell at #2 and trade down To acquire a top 8 #1 and another #2 and #3 or #4. I just see all the potential in Rd #2. If you can find the trade partners you can trade the #2 and #23 into (5) or (6) 2021 #2's and a 2022 #1 and #2. I'm not saying be like Jimmy Johnson and trade down into Rd 3, 4, 5, etc. I'm just looking at all the talent in RD #2. There's bound to be #1 talent that drops out of RD #1.

Last year was a great draft for outside WRs. This year, the FA market is good for outside WRs, and the draft has a lot of slot receivers. I could see the Jets going that route, signing an outside guy and drafting a slot guy.

In reality I don't think there will be much player dropping action in this years draft scenarios because this damn covid problem has shut down much of the evaluation process, especially things like the combine which is where you often see that happen. I could be wrong, there's always a first time ;), but it seems logical to me. Teams are going to have to rely mostly on tape and their scouting departments and they have already been doing that. There will be some interviews and maybe some visits to team facilities but that wouldn't cause a player to go up or down in the draft because teams don't generally share that kind of information. Just my 2 cents.......................for what it's worth.

not so much of players dropping in this idea there are players that their stock is rising and taking them in the second rather hoping them to fall into our laps in the 3rd round we could snatch them all up in the 2nd is another way to look at it...

like Center Quinn Meinerz who is touted to be a top 3rd round selection could take him in the 2nd...
same goes for DE Patrick Jones II
and so on...

This is true also but it still remains difficult for any of them to actually do anything that would raise their stock. The best chance for that would be to have an exceptional pro day and that is possible and that is also why Trevor decided to have an early pro day. He didn't want to miss that opportunity to keep his stock high but he also wanted to get his surgery done soon so he would be ready for the season. At this point that pro day will be the best chance for these guys to change how teams perceive them.
