Right now we are picking 10th.

Just saw this and looks like we are picking 9th... If that makes a difference.

They will not win another game and might not even be competitive. Denver, Cincy, Miami, Houston, Chicago, TB all could be 5-11. If the Jets would have started Petty or Hack we would have had the 2nd pick or 3rd at worst. Thanks Josh. Of course you played out of your mind for the first time in your career and of course it was with the Jets and of course it ruined our draft spot.

we currently have the 11th pick. Should move up by seasons end. Have to hope teams ahead of us get a win. Washington and Cincinnati should manage another win, Bucks have Falcons, Panthers and Saints .
Bears play the Browns in week 16 , they should win.
Texans have Jacksonville , Pitt,and the Colt's.
Denver has the Colt's, Redskins and chiefs.
Can see moving up to the 7th spot, possibly the 6 th.

wait wut?? so now the only way i can justify my position in your eyes, is to say i believe petty is a franchise QB??

fine, you win.. enjoy bowles' extension, mccown's resigning & him starting every game in '18, regardless of who we draft at QB in april.. i don't feel like running around in a circle with you tonight..

If you are complaining about Bowles stifling Petty, why have such concern if you don't think he has what it takes to be a franchise QB?

Ultimately, it was worth it if it proved that some of the young pieces on the roster are legit, like at WR and S. I'd rather pick later and have a young team with more talent than pick earlier and have a young team devoid of talent.

Espn.com also has us picking 9th as of now... I have no idea what is right. Saw several tweets we are picking 10th... I guess no one know what the tie breakers are for Washington, Cincy and us and I do know at some point it could come to a coin flip.. Either way depending on who comes out I think at anyone of those 3 positions we would be looking at taking any one of these 3 QBs

1. Baker Mayfield
2. Lamar Jackson
3. Mason Rudolph

Strength of schedule Is the first tie breaker.
second is record vs conference opponents
Third is record vs divisional opponents
And if still tied, a coin flip.
I think Jackson goes to the Browns but this QB class has no clear order behind Rosen.
Darnold will likely return to USC for another year. I still think the order will change alot in the off season and after the senior bowl and combine.

I can appreciate this because it shows an open mind and a willingness to change one's position about a coach or player based on evidence. You were down on Bowles, and with the job he's done this year, you are no longer down on him. I respect that a lot more than if you were unwilling to move on your opinion in spite of any evidence presented.

So do you still believe Toilet is a truly great HC after two inexplicable stinky-poos against the Bucs and Broncos????

You know you may not believe it, but I would also gladly change my position about Toilet if I thought it was deserved?

And honestly, I thought about changing that position TWICE this season.

1) Right after the 5th game of the season. The Jets just won 3 straight and things looked shockingly optimistic. I just wanted to see continued improvement. THEN? We lost 5 out of our next 6 games.

2) Two weeks ago after they beat the Chiefs? I was thinking maybe they turned the corner? But I thought it could also just be due to the Chiefs slumping recently. I figured the Denver game would answer that question for me further. Well, now I know the answer and that is Toilet sucks and gets lucky every so often.

Hell, Rich Kotite actually won a few games as a HC? Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.

The facts are, he's 1-4 against the Patsies, 3-3 against the Dolphins and 3-3 against the Bills. He has an overall losing record not only against division teams, but also overall. The Jets are penalty prone and routinely come out flat on Toilets watch. He ends up having to suspend players routinely for not doing their jobs when the fact is Parcells never would have had that happen to him even once? Toilet is supposed to be a Bill Parcells disciple? He gets completely out coached and outclassed by many very average HC's like Vance Joseph. He's totally lost against the truly great HC's in this league like McCarthy or Bellichick. But most of all, the jets now in their 3rd season under Toilet will likely finish 5-11 again, a 3rd consecutive season without playoffs and back to back LOSING records.

You might very well be right, and the sad thing is in a good-great year for OL in the draft, we will be picking a QB that will get killed behind what we currently have on the OL. I'm hoping that the QB we want is in a spot that we don't have to trade up for, thus allowing us to spend #2s on OL.

I'm not so sure about that? Mac could use FA to grab an experienced OL and he'll still have the 2nd round and beyond to select OL? I figure a rookie will not have a GREAT OL like say 2009? But he'll get much better protection than McCown has this season?

I don't think he's a great coach. I don't recall ever saying he is a truly great coach. I think he is a pretty good coach who is getting better as he gains experience. His team has largely played well this season. Yesterday was a disaster, as was Tampa. But pretty much every team has a couple every season. Last season was terrible because they were blown out of the water so many times. This year, they have been much more competitive even in games they've lost. And yes, that includes against a Pats team who the whole world outside of 5 1/2 states thinks got a gift in the first Jets game this year.

Bowles has done a solid job this year with a young, rebuilding roster. The team has exceeded most expectations. There are still issues with on-field discipline, such as bad penalties, but he has made progress in terms of accountability from Monday to Saturday.

Sorry, but I don't see the doom and gloom with Bowles. I don't think it's absolute, either, black and white. I don't think you have to think he's either "Toilet" or he's a "truly great" coach. Right now, I think he's a pretty good coach who is growing, and this year was his best job so far with a team many said was the worst roster in NFL history.
