You and the Prof should see the documentary, "Undefeated,The Roger Brown Story".
Just finished watching this wonderful documentary. What a travesty Brown (and Hawkins) had to endure. Those NYC detectives coerced a "confession" for something neither guy did. Just to snag Molinas. And not a lawyer, family member, or adult around Brown and the rest as they endured days of interrogation. Just sad.
I was too young to remember the game in 1960 between Brown and Hawkins at the old Garden. But that had to be an incredible battle.
Loved seeing the guys from the ABA Pacers and recalled the finals between them and Rick Barry's Nets. Brown was just on another level. Awesome that in a big spot, the Pacers isolated Brown on one side of the court and let him do his magic. What a friggin shooter.
Poem by Slick Leonard, which he read at Brown's funeral, is emotional and beautiful. Fitting that Brown's funeral was actually held at Market Square.
Thanks for recommending the documentary, LRL.
