Ham, I don't think its enough to move up to #2. The #6 pick would be stretching it. Mo is coming off an injury and wants Suh money, Smith torn ACL, S.F. and Philly both may be looking for a QB and the Jets are in a "Win Now" mode. I don't see us moving up for a QB.
Win now mode?
So is the Swiss Army
So are you saying the Jets are not in a "Win Now" mode? After spending so much on players last year with some over 30. You actually think we are re-building?
every team is win now mode, unless they truly gut the roster and remove the aged veterans then everyone is trying to succeed each and every year it is how you build the depth behind those veterans... rebuilding is so bull nowadays...
developing players to replace the veterans is the only way to get younger without destroying the fan base that wants to see their team succeed...
look at all the moves they made this off season, two to three years was the average contract... veterans on our roster have two to three years left on their current deals or the guarantee money is up in two to three years making it easier to release them and continue the rebuilding process as some would say...
I guess I am not a believer in this roster & anything that would sacrifice us from rebuilding at this time. I don't like it as fan. But I am giving you my opinion of what I want to see for the Jets as a fan.
I also know how the fan base of tickets holders is very fragile so that they must try to keep the people in the seats. I also know that you need vets to bring the young guns along. So if I were the GM I might have to make SOME OF these changes that I would not want as a fan.
I loved the late 70's Jet teams into the early 80's when we went with youth. It was great fun to watch them grow. So that is me. If the Jets win the SB this year or do very well no one would be more happy than me but I don't see it as of today. The Sb team was built on both & that was great also. There are many ways to skin a cat I just am not on board with the Jets way at this time. I hope I am wrong. The Good news is TB IMO will get lots of juice out of the lemon.
I agree! I also wish we would build a young and strong team. I felt the Jets did poorly in drafting and developing young players in Rex's regime. We have a lot of highly priced and older players. I myself would not mind drafting a top QB and rebuilding the Jets. GM's and coaches want to win Now to build there resume. Not in years past where you can sit a player a while, develop him and keep him on your team. We do such a terrible job. I also see us possibly making a run at a playoff spot, but not going beyond that.
i'm hearing the differences between 1st to mid round QB picks inthis draft is negligible..
i think we all agree mac has a good eye for talent, so from that standpoint i would feel pretty good about your proposed deal..
tell you what though, a GM absolutely can not "swing & miss" on a deal like this.....
i wouldn't risk my job/possibly my career on a kid having a great week against other kids..Agree 100%
It's incredible what's happened with Wentz. Some time ago Ham mocked Wentz to the Jets at 20. i actually thought he was badly reaching for need. Now the kids being mocked top 5 by almost everyone. Shows you what having a great Senior Bowl week can do.
Still, he's an FCS QB, and could go bust. This is a bad QB draft until one of the QB's becomes good LOL.
Macc would be riding his job on that trade. If he's good with it, hey, why wouldn't I be?
Just don't see Macc being sold enough on Wentz to risk his career on it.
Glennon for a 4th though, as Cimini suggested Glennon's value is, if the Buc's would take a 4th, I could see that happening.
I actually don't think they'll let him go for any thing below a second. We'll see very shortly
It also shows you should never question Ham when it comes to the draft :global (49):It's incredible what's happened with Wentz. Instead of being snarky, why don't you tell me whats wrong with the offer?
Too generous?
Not generous enough?
Even NFLN Path to the Draft are discussing possible trade scenarios with Tennessee or Cleveland, teams that might want to move up for Carson Wentz, I simply opened the same conversation here with what I thought was a pretty realistic offer.
I'm sure a lot of my Jet bros on this board might not like to hear my point of view, but big mo is looking for a payday that is far and beyond what the Jets , or any other team would be willing to pay for what he provides. Frankly, from my perspective, his sacks come from excellent coverage. Mo is no JJ Watt , and that's the money he's looking for. Personally, I'll consider it a victory to off his contract for a 3rd or 4th round pick.
I love MO but I agree with this... He is a great all around defender. but he is not the dynamic Playmaker JJ Watt or Von Miller is.
