This is proof that you don't want a clown running your team. For all of Rex's strengths on the defense, he is NOT a good head coach. No matter what he says about himself.

Well, let's remember, he is the same guy who has the audacity to call other posters arrogant when they ripped on his guy Rex, yet was the FIRST to rip on front office guys like Idzik. Much different. Rex wasn't handed a top 5 defense when he came to the Jets. He was trying to fix it up. In Buffalo, he inherited a top defense and on top of that bragged how he would make them better this year because he felt they under achieved the year before. That was an unnecessary attack on Schwartz, the dc before him.

Rex's problem is that he is too stubborn to change his schemes to fit his personnel. Why blow up the roster when they were already successful with it running the same defense. When Pettine went to buffalo, he ran Rex's defense there and was quite successful.

While I will admit, I probably don't know as much coaching as Rex, I've seen enough to know what a good coach looks like.

You can however judge the results. Rex has had crappy results for two teams the past few years.

Antonio Cromartie is a better CB than me too, but I certainly can tell when he isn't executing after he gives up a 60 yd TD.

My problem with MJ is, he says you can't judge an NFL coach because he knows more football than you. But MJ feels perfectly qualified bashing General Managers. He may have broken the hypocrisy meter with that one.

Good point. I'm sick of hearing the apologies for Rex, as well. He took over a pretty decent team, raised expectations, and in his first year fell flat on his face.

I expected him to fail. But I thought his rah-rah message of empty platitudes would at least work for a year or two before the lack of accountability lost him the team.
