Michael Kay says Kirk Cousins

Cousins makes sense for a team that is solid, older, but in need of a QB to get them up the ladder. If the Jags didn't land Eli, I could see them making a Cousins run. I just don't know if he's the right choice for a younger team on the rise.

agreed here w all points.

Enough w the garbage characterizations MJ.

What a crock of shit. I merely disagreed with him. Yet, he instantly gets his panties in a bunch. An now you instantly take his side? What is this? The Stuart Smalley show? This is a football message board, we post our opinions here. If he can't handle being disagreed with perhaps he should deal with it or get lost. And he's forever accusing me of bullying him. That has got to be the stupidest shit I've ever seen.

Baker wins the Heisman, basically cements him to be a Top 10 draft selection, maybe even Top 3...

I know he had no arm, but Tebow was drafted bottom third of first. Baker is different in that he has an arm and a ability to see the entire field.

Elias, no need for me to respond to MJ's post, I'm sure you've got it covered. I don't need to elaborate or give any credence to it, his posts speak for themselves. I rest my case.

All the righteous posts from the hard left aside, lets get back on point here.

Here are Baker Mayfield's stats from 2017. Understand, he plays at least one more, possibly two more games. So the totals could very well be even more impressive than they are at this moment:

262 of 369 attempts 71% comp. 4340 yards 41 TD 5 INT

so whether you hate his ego or behavior or both, this kid MUST be part of the conversation for a QB needy team like the Jets. You'd be an idiot otherwise. Considering him as the possible face of the franchise is common sense.

I plan on posting the Sooners opponents defensive rankings so w can test if what Tebow claims. There's no doubt the Sooners opponents were unable to defend Mayfield. But maybe they just have bad defenses period? What I know is that they tried everything including just trying to get under Mayfield's skin, in order to get him off his game. I wouldn't even say Iowa ST. wa able to do that?

Please Browns be the Browns and take Mayfield so the Jets don't have to be the Jets and take him.

The Big 12 is notoriously bad for defenses, but I will say he never faced a defense even as bad as the worst NFL defense. I just believe what he brings to the table physically along with attitude makes him not worth the pick. If he was 6'4 with a cannon arm then I could overlook his vertically challenged, pudgy body.

Pretty likely to win the Heisman, gmf1369, but still wouldn't be my choice unless someone can clear the air of his attitude problems which are referred to by every story I read about him. I have no problem with his height as he has demonstrated with his excellent game play that it is not relevant. We have a good locker room atmosphere now and would prefer not to jeopardize it.

It's a good question? Because believe me as much as I like the kid as a QB, the thoughts of his piss poor attitude infecting an otherwise good locker room has crossed my mind many times.

However, I look at it like this.........

We once had a total shit bag for a QB. He was such a useless POS that he picked fight with a teammate because he stiffed him out of chump change. He was so childish, he ended getting his jaw broken and in the process bringing out the worst in another player as well? If that scumbag didn't ruin the locker room then I KNOW cooler heads will always prevail when it comes to nonsense.

Now obviously, I do not to even go down that road? But honestly I look at Mayfield and see a kid that is just very emotional? A kid that GENUINELY cares about winning. But most of all, there's no denying his great play...........

I'm with Mainejet on this. Mayield's antics *unite* his teammates, Of course, as a pro, he can't be planting flags at the 50 yard line if he beats the Patriots, but I actually like his attitude. From everything I've heard, his teammates *love* him. I'd still prefer a taller QB, but I'd take Russel Wilson in a heartbeat.

His antics unite kids not men. Then again with these new millennial idiots he might be the man for the job. And Baker Manziel is nothing like Wilson except height.

Agree with Tebow - his antics unite irresponsible kids, not men. Grabbing your crotch on national TV doesn't make you a man, it makes you an idiot. Getting arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct, and then fleeing the arresting officers doesn't make you a leader, it makes you an irresponsible, immature boy with a criminal record who is not qualified to lead a marching band. And people actually think this kid can lead grown men with families and be the face of franchise?

And MaineJet, for the record being on the right side of the law is not a concept of the "Far Left". It's an American principle. I would add that while your petty little FoxNews style political digs are intended to incite anger, they actually have a negative impact. Because your attempts lack any meaningful substance or indicate any signs of intelligence, they only make you look even more ignorant. The again, maybe it's not your fault. Perhaps you were absent the day they taught decency and lawful behavior in elementary school. If I remember correctly, it's in kindergarten and first grade that this material is covered. So you might want to sit in on a few of those classes. I'm sure now, with some extra help from the teacher, you might get a gold star on your homework assignment, or maybe even a smiley face.

Mayfield appears to have the goods and that underdog, chip on his shoulder, me against the world mentality might do him very well in the league. It’s done wonders for other players like Brady, Terrell Davis and many others that weren’t drafted or drafted late when they know they were better. There have been smaller QBs that have gotten the job done and are HOFers or HOFers to be. Drew Breez and Russell Wilson will be and guys like Tarkenton we’re smaller QBs who are HOFers. Of course I would rather the Jets draft Josh Allen and he turns out to be our guy but if they draft Mayfield, I will believe he can the job done also.

Well you named like the only 3 successful under 6'0" QB's. Baker Manziel will never be Russell Wilson or Drew Brees. He is a major reach in the 1st round.

Baker Manziel huh, that was pretty funny. Well I’m guessing most people thought the same about Breez and Wilson when they came out but look at the results. None of us know what Mayfield will turn out to be but if the Jets do draft him, have alittle faith and let’s just see what happens.
