When you finish 5-11, usually a few people are gonna get canned. No surprise Gailey will be one of them. I watched the Jets get stuffed on 4th and 1 TWICE yesterday deep in Buffalo territory. I called out "here comes a run up the middle" on both, with 35 guys lined up on the LOS, and guess what happened?
Just a microcosm of the year.
And yes, there's no way Kacy Rodgers should be back, either. He was the worst coach on the staff.

Our special teams suck and we've had 5 special team coaches in the last 5 years. My point, firing the coach isn't always the answer. I don't sunscibe to the theory that a coach has to walk the plank for 5-11 season. Sometimes you need new players, not new coaches.
I agree that sometimes it's more players than coaches, but this defense had no excuses. Supposedly the best d-line in the NFL looked very pedestrian. We got almost nothing in terms of a pass rush from the LB's. (Although Lee and Jenkins were rookies. That's a mulligan. But where was Mauldin?). The secondary was a colossal disappointment, starting with Revis and continuing on to Pryor, Gilchrist, and even Skrine got burned a few too many times.
That's a lot of players going in the tank. Coincidence? Most of those players were solid or on the rise heading into 2016. This defense underachieved bigtime.

If you remember his hiring, it was awkward. The rumors of hiring started, he denied being contacted, then was hired.
Sounds like they dragged him out of retirement.

John DiFillipo????? Really????? We have an interest in a guy with 1 yr as an OC, who was in charge of the #30 offense in Cleveland under Pettine. Worked with notable qb's such as Jamarcus Russell, Sanchez, Linert, McGloin, etc. You gotta be kidding me??????
He also helped Wentz develop very quickly into a legit NFL starter.
I think bringing in a younger QB coach is the ideal. Todd Downing in Oakland is a possible fit. He's worked with Stafford and Carr in the past few years.
No thanks...... his list of failures outweighs Wentz. McCoy worked with Rivers..... cant get much better than that.....

Good Didn't want him... I'll take McCoy or someone that runs the Charlie Weiss type of offense that worked well for us when he was here and New England has been running it since BB and Weiss went there 17 years ago.... Also of Note that offense has made Testaverde, Matt Cassell and Garapolloo look good.
And make no mistake about it; that's Weiss's offense... I like McDaniel's and think he has added to it and is a great play caller but that's Charlie's system.
Not sure if a big name OC wants to come to the Jets and their mess at QB and OL. Possibly worst job in the league.
