The other position that could be addressed with a worthy player in that high a pick would be CB. Okudah from OSU would be a very good fit as a CB1, with Bless Austin developing at CB2 and Poole as your nickel.

Say the Jets end up at #7. The prospect of them walking away with a OT (Thomas, Jackson), a CB (Okudah), or an edge (Young) has to be quite enticing. Now, those are four elite, top draft players. all of whom fit positions of need. Add to that potentially three top-10 QB prospects who could all go before the Jets pick, and they could be positioned very, very well to land an elite talent to fill one of their biggest needs.

And they would still have three more picks in the first three rounds. Joe Douglas could do a lot in this draft.

Sack- I been thinking for weeks about moving Brandon shell to RG next season if they retain him. As an Oline guy what do you think of that

Joe Douglas can play this many ways...

Wouldn't be shocked to see the Jets re-sign Kelvin Beachum ( 1 year deal )
Then in FA sign RT Halapoulivaati Vaitai currently an Eagle (26 years old)
With Jonotthan Harrison under contract the team can focus on 2 Guards in the draft... Can also draft a center...

With this in mind the Jets can get that edge, corner and receiver with the other picks...

Seeing that we keep dropping out of the top 10... The team can try to trade down, stockpile or take best available player (as long as it is NOT a defensive lineman)... Likely targets Andrew Thomas even Austin Jackson could be off the board by the time we pick so going after need even reaching a bit to take Edge Yetur Gross-Matos from Penn State might be worth the bad press, he is slated to go between 15 - 25, so at 11 people may grunt if we take him there...

With a 2nd and 2 3rd rounds the Jets can get that WR or CB with the 2nd round pick and grab 2 guards in the 3rd... After that picking up a center with the 4th round and then look for sleepers in the last 3 rounds...

Beachum may re-up here, but it would likely be as a veteran backup. I think that is about the market for him, and he may prefer to be a backup here than a backup elsewhere. He could groom a young LT taken high in the draft. Hopefully, Thomas or Jackson will be there. The LT from Iowa is also solid, Wirfs, though I'm not sure as a top 10.

Harrison is here to stay, at least for now. He's shown himself reliable enough for that. Lewis may stay, primarily because he was a Douglass acquisition and he showed he can start when necessary. Edoga stays, likely starts at RT, with Shell has his backup. So three new starters, LT and both guards. A couple guys stay for depth.

see that is not what I was saying I said Joe Douglas could go that way... if the team wins next week guarantee all the top 3 LTs won't be available to us where we will probably be picking with the 16th overall pick...

Beachum is as good as who is playing guard next to him, when he doesn't have to worry about more than his responsibilities he can handle his job... The problem is we don't know how they really feel about Edoga, and could move him to that side permanently... We know they are really high on Harrison and his relationship with Darnold is too important to finagle with atm...

We all agree Brian Winters is done with green & white and Alex Lewis may be brought back as a role player/backup...

If Edoga is the LT, then re-signing Beachum as his backup awesome... Signing FA or re-signing Shell is in the cards... They like Qvale but who knows if he walks in FA...

What I am saying if they believe in their pass protecting tackles then drafting run blocking ability guards may allow Bell to be more productive next season if he is still here...

If it were to happen that all the elite LTs are gone by the time the Jets pick, then yes, they have to consider that idea. I am hoping one of the big-time LTs is still on the board.

Maybe I am just a bit more hopeful.

Several teams are looking for left tackles. Our win may just have cost us that opportunity. Another win would for sure.

I just watched the Bills weekly TV show. Looks like they are treating this game like a preseason game. A few reps then the starters go to the bench. Another worthless win and dropping like a rock in the draft.

Are you saying that other teams are going to draft the players they need rather than a 300lb DT who 'fell to them' and is the 'BPA'? Isn't that cheating? Blimey, no wonder the Jets can't field a competitive squad! :al:

Sort of...........the Jets have shown that they are"almost" always a day late and a dollar short when it comes to acquiring talented players to fill needs.

That leaves the edges on the board, then, and the Jets can go edge in the first. Or it leaves a top CB on the board, and they can go there. Or it leaves the QBs on the board, and the Jets can find a trading partner and land some draft capital.

Not every player of value can be gone by the time the Jets pick.

I wouldn't bet on that. The Jets just have a way with screwing the draft up. They could, and it wouldn't surprise me, trade away that 10th pick for 3 5th rounders.

I am willing to wait and see what Joe Douglas does before I blast him for the mistakes of past regimes. Maybe that makes me naive for not blaming him for what others did before him.

Douglas has had an awful draft history as the Jets' GM.

He has not drafted a single starter since he was hired as GM of the Jets. Not one! I know, that's tough to believe. Almost impossible. But it's true. Look it up.

This is only a marginally worse record than some of his recent predecessors.
