look, i can't stand the patriots but come on..

this was bowles/fitzpatrick's super bowl..

this was a trap game (that they won) for beilchick/brady..

if NE makes a deep playoff run, my guess is you will want to forget this post.....

Come on. Does Belichick EVER treat the Jets as a trap game? He always wants to crush the Jets. Hell, he went deep into his playbook on a few occasions.

I just think that if you are truly impressed with the Pats after that debacle, you have a different view of football than I have.

Just another painful loss in a painful season. But honestly, the pain gets less severe as the losses pile up.

Fitzpatrick looked good today. That strip sack was on Ijalana. He got smoked by Long.

...yeah, we established that months ago..

i'll say again.. if NE makes a deep playoff run, you might want to forget this post as well..

BTW, what happened to your/parcells "you are what your record says you are" mantra??

They may make a deep playoff run. But today, a legit contender would have blown the doors off the Jets the way Gang Green played. Turnovers. Penalties. Missed opportunities. A blocked field goal.

Vegas wins again, imagine that? Pats could have beat us by 50. Jets are a joke.

The Jets played poorly enough for the Pats to have won by 50.

The Pats did not play well enough to beat anyone by 50.

BTW, does the Parcells "record" mantra go for the Jets, too? If so, they're a 3-8 team. No more talk about how well they played today. They're a bad team, and good teams should pound bad teams. 9-2 teams should destroy 3-8 teams, especially when the 3-8 team plays so poorly.

It goes both ways.

Do you really think that a good team, a legit good team, would barely beat a bad team that played such a bad game?

Well, lets look at this by a very pragmatic example.........The Patsies won the SB just two seasons ago. Meanwhile, in BOTH their combined meetings against the Jets they won both by a combined THREE points...........

So YES, I very much do believe a legit good team could barely beat a truly bad football team..........

I expected this to be a close game. These teams have had the last 7 or so games decided by 7 or less. That's division rival reality. Even if the Jets are not really playing like a rival this year.

There are no moral victories, though. We lost, and we are not a good enough team this year.

Jets played well in both those games, I'd argue.

Jets did not play well today.

are you kidding?? what the hell does one have to do with the other??

Maybe I have not expressed my opinion well enough. For that, I apologize.

Here is my point. The Jets, a bad team, made a ton of mistakes. They played a bad game.

The Pats, a team with SB aspirations, failed to capitalize on many of those mistakes. That is why the score was close.

Normally, if a bad team plays a good team close, it's because the bad team plays a good game. The bad team has an atypical performance, playing above themselves. That didn't happen today. The Jets played a poor game.

If a good team plays a bad game, and they both play good games (by their standards), the good team should win handily. The only time it should be close is when a good team plays a bad game (by their standards), and a bad team plays a good game.

But that didn't happen. A good team played a bad team, and they both played poor games (by their standards). The good team should have beaten the bad team handily. But they didn't. They barely won.

That's my whole point. I am not sure if that expresses my thoughts better, but I tried. My point is, with how badly the Jets played, and how bad a team they are, a true championship contender would have destroyed them, even on a bad day.

So I just gave you a very eloquent and reasonable answer, but yet I'm still wrong? You can't have it both ways.............

It was a good example. But as I said, I think the Jets, in both those games, played well. I don't think they played well today.

thanks for trying to clarify but i still have no idea what you're talking about..

if NE makes a deep playoff run this season, they will have ended up being a "true championship contender.."

with or without your approval, BTW..

They don't need my approval for anything.

But if they really are contenders, then today has to be an absolute outlier. If bad teams playing bad football can do this to the Pats, then good teams will beat them.
