Going into tonight's games it was very close with Chicago.

Chicago Bears 3-9 0.250 0.511
New York Jets 3-8 0.273 0.511

However the Jets have an easier schedule (W-L's) the rest of the way.
Wow, good job NC, if thats the case than the Jets would own the tiebreaker for the higher pick.

Bowles Pressed: Petty the rest of the season. Most animated I've seen him.
perhaps it's finally sinking in that he looks & sounds like a freakin' dope pretending to be belichick in all of his previous pressers??

to little, to late..

I've bashed Bowles for a lot this year. But he was right about one thing...

Bryce Petty isn't ready for this job. Jets fans need to admit that.
I'm not admitting that because I don't know that thats true. How could you possibly know when the kid gets thrown into a 31-3 Game after halftime? The Colts basically flooded the zone with a dime coverage because they didn't have to worry about the run. I think we'll get a much better read next week when Petty plays the whole game verses SF, provided Bowles and Gailey don't take the air out of the ball like they did in his first start verses the Rams.

That said, no young QB is "ready" to play in the NFL if you want to get technical, they are all going to experience some growing pains, well maybe not all, sometimes you step into the ideal situation like Dallas, with a great O-line and arguably the best young RB in football, so it really takes the pressure off a young QB to a large degree, but most of the time a young QB will have to take his lumps, make his mistakes, and hopefully get better with more reps and as the game slows down in his minds eye. So I'm not looking for perfection from Petty, I just want to see flashes that are encouraging, and improvement from week to week. Right now I can't say he's not ready because I haven't seen enough, but in the little I have seen, I've seen some good and I've seen some bad. It hasn't been all one or the other. However I like the physical tools and I'm cautiously optimistic.

Bryce Petty appears to have chemistry with two players on offense because he only targeted them and wasn't looking anywhere else... This could be due to lack of reps in practice with any of the other targets... So from here on out, if Petty is the number one and Hackenberg is the number two then we should be inline to simply release the Fizzleshits to open a roster spot...

Now on if Petty is ready, simple solution Gailey needs to get out of his way and create a game plan surrounding Petty and what he is good at or comfortable in doing... Let the three RBs be the focal point allowing Petty to strike the middle of the field while taking deep shots now and again off play action... This game plan would be the polar opposite of what Fitzshits was running...

excellent condensed break down of bowles' presser E..

as far as the QB situation goes, LOLz even i don't believe bowles is stubborn enough not to dress hackenberg any later than week 15..

Petty very well could be the long term answer with time. I'm not denying that.

But my eyes saw something very different than your yours. Petty was missing badly with his receivers. And he threw two INTs that were awful. Yes, more practice reps should help, but this is two consecutive games now for Petty where he didn't look NFL starter-ready. Last time it was "let Petty throw the ball Gailey!"

Well, Gailey let him throw it. And now it sounds like the excuse train is pulling into the station. Bowles said Petty wasn't playing because he wasn't ready. Sounds to me like he was right.

Anderson had too many drops, but some of that could possibly be adjusting to Petty's ball - it comes in differently than Fitz - like with velocity. Petty needs to adjust too.

That separation is special.

Letting a guy throw in a tight game with the threat of a running game is different then letting a guy throw in a blow out against a dime defense with the pass rush pinning its ears back.
petty should've stayed mostly with the underneath stuff the colts were giving him.that being said, their dropped a lot of balls on him and he slightly overthrew anderson twice, both would've been tds, against a prevent defense. Pettys got a cannon.

Team just quit yesterday. I admit I haven't really watched a game in about 4 weeks, so maybe they quit weeks ago but this was clear. No effort and the players just quit. That's not on the CS. Players gotta take pride in themselves and their preparation and obviously they didn't. WOW!!!

TB and Gailey did know what they were talking about on this. Imagine how bad Hack must still be, wow. Petty can show improvement over the next four games and hopefully he does. Right now, he is mainly a one-two look QB that throws to one-two players at most. Accuracy issues and reads on defences. He does have a gun and looks damn good throwing it, I must admit. He's got a long way to go and hopefully he gets there.

It was shocking to watch.

It seemed like the team got punched in the nose to start the game, and never recovered. Two quick TD's that were as easy as it gets. It makes you wonder about the character of this team. Bad teams still go out there and fight until week 16. These players still need to earn their money, and should still have some pride.

I saw a team that has given up. And I don't think I've ever seen that before, even as a Jets fan who experienced the Kotite years. We got embarrassed for the second time this year on National Television.

Bowles and his entire coaching staff should be fired. And that's coming from one of the most patient fans around here.

The three highlights from last night:

1. The throw for a TD that Anderson actually didn't drop

2. By the end of the game, the emptiest I've ever seen New Giants Stadium, including exhibition games. No line for the rest rooms and no need to wait for traffic to die down to get out. It was like the Mets in '79. See, there are some advantages to a bad team.

3. Best open field tackle of the year when a NJ State Trooper absolutely creamed an idiot who ran on the field. Longest run of the year too.

I haven't been on in weeks, I refuse to watch Fitzpatrick at this point in the season. This was horrendous. The team flat out quit. I don't care about the cap it, cut Revis and Wilk. Ship Sheldon out for a 3rd rounder. IDK what you do with Bowles, he looks terrible, but Mac looks look like hot trash as well. I assume they both get another year. I'm still not sure how this team got to this point.
