Keys to defeating the Chiefs....

Keys to defeating the Chiefs....

1) The defense MUST play better! The defense has been horrid so far this season. Alex Smith can abuse secondary's if given good enough protection, so it is imperative that the Jets front 7 get after Smith and shut down their very productive running game. IMO, the breakdowns in the passing game are all problems with the linebackers and the secondary. Revis needs to start playing better, but I don't have much of a worry about. Revis might be the very best corner to have ever played the position. This season, however, he's complete sh*t. I just can't see such a change in such a short amount of time. He's going to play better and I think today is the start of much better play.

2) Protect Fitz. Fitz is becoming a very good QB with all the weapons he has on this team and that needs to continue today. This may sound like a very obvious point, but it bears mentioning due to the fact the OL is suspect. Ijalana and Qvale have done very nice filling the RT gap, but I can't see that lasting forever. If Fitz has time, given all the passing weapons this team has, he will pick the Chefs defense apart.

3) Matt Forte: Stay the course. Forte was excellent against Buffalo despite the fact that he was not breaking off chunks of yardage. At the beginning of the game he was ineffective in regards to advancing the football, but he was very important to setting up play action and roll outs. That's what the Jets need from him today. Obviously, it would be great if he could run for more than 4 yards a carry, but even if he cannot run on the Chefs defense, he should feel good knowing that his 2 yards or less per carry IS helping the offense because it sets up Fitz to be successful in the passing game.

4) Be ready for the crowd. Arrowhead is a freakin zoo. It will not be easy for Fitz to go through snap counts, they'd better be ready to go with silent counts if need be. You would hope they have been practicing that all week.

Getting to Alex Smith early will set the tone for the whole game. I see this happening.

It is 100% GUARANTEED that Brandon Marshall plays today. You honestly think he's going to leave Fitz high and dry in a game of this nature?? Fitz needs Marshall and Marshall knows it. Anyone that thinks Marshall will not play today watches way too much TV and just doesn't use much common sense........

Looks like he may play limited snaps, so an early chance for Robbie Anderson to show his stuff?

maybe work in a little Bilal?

Forgot all about that. Wise suggestion. The Jets should be limiting Forte's touches, Forte is talented and it would be a shame to see him get used up too quick when the Jets have a perfectly capable backup in Bilal Powell sitting on the bench. Chan should be deploying a two back system so neither one gets over used. Not to mention, the Jets didn't exactly get Powell back on the cheap. He's getting his money. The Jets should use him and get their money out of him......

But most of all, he could certainly lend a hand in producing a running game today against the Chefs.

If the Jets can somehow pull out a victory today, it will be HUGE. It will put the league on notice that the Jets are a contender. I do not believe the Jet will win this game, personally not because I think they can't win, but because this game is at Arrowhead and Arrowhead is so loud. But if the Jets win today, it will make a lot of believers out of their own fan base because many fans do not they can beat teams with winning records.
