What do the NY Jets need to do to earn some RESPECT?

Go into the bye 9-0. Id respect the hell out of that.
That be ALL TIME GREAT but we know that ain’t going to happen. Being realistic I’d say win 8-9 games this year, even 7 at the worst and it shows true progression and gives true hope and optimism of a real playoff team next year. That should bring some respect!

I think of the concept of respect meant more so about how the NFL Network, ESPN and so many media outlets even our own beat writers treat this team like horse shit no respect.

that will never change even if we win the Super Bowl. this organization in their eyes is a joke from the ownership down. Robert Saleh & Joe Douglas have changed the perception to the players but as a respected team in the league that is a bigger get.

can we earn the rep like Baltimore with Ozzie Newsome, yes. will we, time we need to be patient.

I think you're correct on this... just to know that you're going to hear the same garbage all of the time is sickening.

case in point... last night on Total Access, they had a spot where David Carr, usually a pretty fair and pretty decent analyst, had a chart of 4 categories to drag second year QB's faces to for where they would lead their respective second year brethren in '22.

TD's
Wins
Completions
Interceptions

before he got started, i knew he was dragging Zach to interceptions. it didn't matter that he didn't throw one in his last 6 games (or something like that). true to form, he couldn't wait drag Zach's face to picks.

I want them to keep disrespecting the Jets.

we face a lot of future HOF Qb's this year. not saying i am looking forward to anyone being injured, but our D is going to punish a few of them in a painful way.

my prediction is the disrespect and butt of jokes will turn to a Raider-esque type of vitriol.
and personally, i will love that!

We will never win the respect of ESPN (Patriots country) and SI (They still haven't forgiven the Jets for making Tex Maulle's Super Bowl III prediction look stupid).
So, don't bother trying.
As for the others?
Just kick some ass.

It's actually 5 games. And to put things into a little perspective, Tom Brady's longest 0 int streak last season was 4 games.

thanks for picking me up on the detail, but more importantly, thanks for magnifying the real light in which it should be seen!!! Great point!

Just to put Carr's prediction in context... these were the other QB's last 5 games of "their" year for picks.... not all played the final 5 games of their team's season.

Lawrence... 5
Jones... 5
Mills... 2
Fields... 7

While I would love a Bengals-like turnaround for the Jets similar to what Burrow did, I’m patient enough to see a 4-5 win improvement in 2022, followed by a legitimate playoff team in 2023. I think we have the talent to do it. I believe in Zach Wilson. He’s got the supporting cast to succeed.

IMO, the 2022 Jets being the 2021 Bengals relies on 4 "ifs".

1.) if Zach can maintain his ball security exhibited after injury "and" also step on play making.
2.) if Carl, Q, JFM, JJ2, and Clemons can create tons of pressure.
3.) if Garrett and Eli can be a solid 1-2 WR punch as playmakers.
4.) if the OLine can stay healthy.

a lot to ask for? maybe, but fairly reasonable requests too. TBH, i think 1, 3, and 4 are going to happen. Call me snake bitten, but after not seeing a consistent pass rush since Abraham, it really comes down to the pass rush for me.

"if" we get that, we are going to turn heads.

Here's the one thing that the Bengals had that the Jets will never have. Burrow and Chase had a lot of playing time together at LSU. The Bengals drafted a winning QB-WR duo out of college.

Personally I think the Jets need to worry about their own path instead of trying to follow the Bengals footsteps. This year, I think they still need to be in the hunt for the playoffs after 14 games and next season playoffs.
