It's not just about winning. The Jets need to no longer be the Jets. They get hated on outside of New York because they are a New York team. They get hated on in New York because they're not the establishment New York team.
How many times have we seen it? From Vegas odds to Stephen A. Smith to Brady Quinn, on and on, the disrespect is real. And winning won't change it.
Some Jets fans act as though winning will change the way the Jets are treated by the media. The last time the Jets were winning football games, the media still hated on the Jets. They still promoted the narrative of the Jets being a circus. They have had two exceptional drafts in a row by all measurable standards this year, and EVERYONE still expects them to be picking top 5 next year.

1986, Jets have a very hot start, 10-1. Maguire is working for NBC. He keeps picking against the Jets, and then declares the Jets won't win another game all season. Jets fans are quite angry, and lock him in his trailer at the Meadowlands. If I recall, some Jets fans did express their displeasure with the trailer. It wasn't tipped over, per se, but Jets fans made sure Maguire knew they were upset with him.

I was in college at UConn that year. turned down going to a concert to watch the Jets get their ass kicked by Miami on Monday night. I vowed after that game that the Jets would not win again. Maguire did too. We were both right. Still didn’t like him
I met Steven A a few months ago in a personal setting. He is a nice guy but the jet’s hatred runs deep. I had my Jets badge reel on and he started off by apologizing for my choice of team. It was just me and him and he told me about how Saleh was the wrong guy for the job. I know it’s his opinion but what basis is there in that? As a first year coach I think Saleh did a great job and will only get better.

When he isn’t in front of a camera or a microphone he is is different.
don't get me wrong, i don't think kellerman is that informative about anything in sports aside from boxing & yes, he doesnt mind shitting on the jets either.. that said, smith's supposed claim to fame (aside from hot takes & character assassinations) is his basketball knowledge..
kellerman knows more about boxing than than smith does about basketball hands down, IMO..
