What, if anything, would you be willing to give up for A.Peterson?

Did you know when he beats his children he first sticks a handful of leaves in their mouth?

Also note, we're talking about a 4 year old...

Damn, I did not know any of that. I didn't read the court documents, and frankly only followed the situation from afar.

read the court documents. That's nothing. I read them as soon as they were published. He took his 4 year old sons testicles in his hand and burst his sack in his palm and left him that way until he went back to his mom, his mom discovered the injury, and rushed him to the hospital. He's a disgusting addition to the human race.

Wtf does burst his sack mean?

Don't forget the beatings where he made his kid select the switch (because that's what HIS dad did...how touching) he would be using and then stuffing his mouth full of leaves while he repeatedly whipped the little kid. At what point as an adult does this seem okay? Amazingly, he claims he did nothing wrong as he was brought up this way and he's "fine" so that makes all this okay and none of our business.
Haven't we all improved on something our parents weren't so great at? It's called evolving. Each generation learns something from the former. AP learned he should continue the beatings. Nice take away, AP.

And this scumbag has hurt feelings because someone within Vikings management wasn't okay with what he did and he's demanding a trade since he's not comfortable returning to such a "hostile" environment. He's not happy returning to 13M!
Well guess what AP, none of this would be happening if you weren't such an abusive, cowardly train wreck.
And trust me, if he wasn't rich and had good attorneys, he'd be behind bars today. Suck it up, you disgusting POS!

And a disturbing part of this is the high percentage of Viking fans who look the other way and are clamoring over his return because, you know, he's good for their team. They all point to his getting a favorable outcome in court or NFL appeals as some sort of retribution to ease their conscience when they openly root for him to don purple and gold on Sundays.
Be proud of supporting child abuse and stay classy, Viking fans. You deserve him.

I haven't found anything about that. Only that he used the switch.

•Peterson sent a text message to the boy’s mother, saying that one wound in particular would make her “mad at me about his leg. I got kinda good wit the tail end of the switch.”
•Peterson said via text message to the child’s mother that he “felt bad after the fact when I notice the switch was wrapping around hitting I (sic) thigh”
•Peterson said via text message “Got him in nuts once I noticed. But I felt so bad, n I’m all tearing that butt up when needed! I start putting them in timeout. N save the whooping for needed memories!”
•Peterson said via text message “Never do I go overboard! But all my kids will know, hey daddy has the biggie heart but don’t play no games when it comes to acting right.”
•The child said “Daddy Peterson hit me on my face.”
•The child expressed worry that Peterson would punch him in the face if the child reported the incident to authorities.
•The child said that he had been hit by a belt and that “there are a lot of belts in Daddy’s closet.”
•The child said that Peterson put leaves in his mouth when he was being hit with the switch while his pants were down.
•The child told his mother that Peterson “likes belts and switches” and “has a whooping room.”
•Peterson, admitted to the police that he had “whooped” his son on the backside with a switch as a form of punishment.
•Peterson also admitted to the police that he administered two different “whoopings” to his son.

Yea that's pretty disgusting, I couldn't even imagine the state of mind he'd have to be in to justify his behavior.

If he crushed his balls then he deserves to be out of the league, but if he just beat his kids ass with a belt or switch then he shouldn't be punished. More kids need their ass beat!! This generation has zero consequences!!

Peterson is an elite talent but time is not on his side. He has been a work horse for some time now. RBs are easy to find in the draft so at this point with all things considered I would give up nothing higher than a 4th.

He needs to go to a win now team. Some team with good QB play that is just missing that one extra piece to push for Superbowl.

Right now I'm not sure the jets are there. We are still building for the future.

I think the Jets are more of a win-now team than most people.

Plenty of teams go worst to first in the NFL. And, with the infusion of talent and someone in charge who knows what the hell he is doing (both coach and GM) I don't think the Jets are far away. Yes, we need a permanent solution at QB for the long run, but I think we are very competitive as currently constructed...and are only going to get better.

And I'm a bitter SOJ fan!

I don't disagree at all. I'm always optimistic about the Jets but realistic as well.

I just meant that we are still a fairly young team with a new regime in place. We are certainly capable of winning now and I think we will but even with our recent lack of success we don't really have the pressure.

We aren't a team full of pricey vets, a coach on his last chance and/or have a QB who is running out of time.

By all means if we can get some decent QB play this team can do some real damage.

Kevin, All I'm reading is the beating with twigs he made them pick out. Where did you find that about crushing his sons nut sack while stuffing their mouth with leaves ? That's evil not abusive, if true ?

I doubt it's true cy.
Kevin may have gotten confused about the switch curling around his son's thigh and hitting him in the sack.

HYATT™ wouldn't even think of condoning this sort of behavior, having been through similar & worse in his own childhood, but it's not the end of the world nor does it make Purple Jesus the Debbil Incarnate.
A LOT of NFL players probably had disciplined their children with various degrees of similar behavior and are right now praying no video exists.

The wife is no saint either, in fact there are several AP baby mommas out there and all of them a bunch of gold diggers riding the All Day Pay Day & living like queens.
Everything the kid testified to has to be viewed through the lens of possible 'mommy lookin' for a bigger share of payday' influence as well.
Not passing judgement on that either, on either side - just as HYATT™ didn't on Cromartie.

The game is football, not Saint Daddy of the Year.
HYATT™'s concern is with what's going on, ON the field, and surrounding it.
Peterson's legal issues are now behind him, time to move on and consider the player AS a player, and what he brings to the table.
That is to say, what is a generational player worth at the peak of his career with maybe 4 more really good years left in him?

Hyatt, I see you're explaining the disciplinary side stating that everyone has their style and what not. I'm with you there. I'm actually on the opposite side of your upbringing and of course, AP. I was never hit as a child or even teenager. I was one of those who actually didn't get in trouble. Imagine that? I was the big brother and had to take care of my little brother...but I digress.

But when you hear testimony from a 4-year old that AP had a whooping shed, hit him and told him not to tell, see the way AP obsesses with this, and see the physical evidence...I mean my god, where do we need to draw the line? I know you don't condone this but I don't see you coming close to condemning it either with the stories of your upbringing and such. But I'm here to tell you those are actions of an abuser.

I have to go back to the fact that this kid is 4 years old. Do you or anyone believe stuffing leaves and beating a 4-year old to such a degree isn't anyway abusive? Just asking because you don't say so. I can't imagine the need to be this violent towards a 4-year old! It can't be necessary. Hell, I know it isn't.
Also, out of curiosity, did you decide it was necessary to repeat what your parents did? You seem to indicate this. I know we tend to repeat what our parents did but can consciously make improvements and adopt a different style.

I get a kick out of the justification of those parents who are abusive. There's a common line of defense that they all share where they state that they turned out okay, so the punishment doled out is indeed justified. Look at me, I'm perfect! Really, why do you have to resort to violence to discipline your kid? Have you no leadership skills? I surmise this is the problem but again, I digress.
I don't think such people are actually qualified to make the claim that they're "okay". I'd give a quick unequivocal resounding no to that depiction if they're continuing this pattern of unnecessary, abusive behavior. We'll see how their kids turn out...most likely they simply repeat the abusive patterns. Until it's stopped.

As I stated earlier, who is HYATT™ to judge another man's child-rearing?
2 boys, almost exactly 3 years apart, (conceptions planned and achieved 3 years & 3 calendar days apart.)
One is the hardest working solid upstanding citizen you can imagine and the other has 5 DUIs to his credit - yet both were raised identically.
We bent over backwards to a fault to insure each child got the same as the other - no less nor any more.

I was beaten hard as a child & yes, it was abuse, as what AP did should be considered - in Bob Hyatt's OPINION - but HYATT™ understands that we CANNOT predict the outcome of any child-rearing system on any given child. What works for one may not work for the next in the same family, which is empirically true in my own case.

I firmly believe some children do need the rod and some do not, but with no way to predict which one, we should err on the side of kindness and understanding, rather than violence.
Others do not share HYATT™'s sympathies and choose another path.
So long as the child's health and life are not endangered, who is to judge?

And seriously, as horrific as all of this looks on the AP side, that boy is just fine and his life was never in any danger.
Those small cuts and abrasions are physically no worse than what many of us incurred falling off a bicycle crash into the woods.
Mentally, who knows? Perhaps he will always remember it is not a good thing to hit another person - ESPECIALLY A FEMALE, which was the boy's offense in this incident, BECAUSE of the impact/trauma of this incident.
Or not. (Hands in the air.)
The world of men could use a little more instruction in how NOT to treat women with abuse & neglect when they grow up, don't you think?

For the purposes of THIS forum, however, it is ALL about NFL football, and as such, what is past is now past.
AP is all about where he goes from here, which is what HYATT™ chooses to confine his future discussions to.
