Center (Price) I doubt will make it to the 2nd Rd. You also don't know if someone will slip to the 22nd pick of the 1st Rd who might have been a top 15 pick. Possibly an ER, ILB,CB, OT. I know what you mean by the 5th year option. I personally would rather have the 2 1st Rd picks to go along with 3 2nd Rd picks
between Price, Wynn, Ragnov, Daniels & Welsh are the top centers and would be happy to get anyone of those...
Price is the best but not by much, Ragnov is just as good and Wynn is also up there both Ragnov and Wynn will be there in the 2nd round is all I am saying...
As for ER, this team literally doesn't think highly of this position... Just look at the two outside linebacker prospects we have selected... Jordan Jenkins (steal) 3rd, Dylan Donahue (jury still out) 5th not to mention what they think about Lorenzo Mauldin ( I know what we think )...
The best ILB is Roquan Smith will likely be gone by 18th overall, but he doesn't fill the need of this style defense... Our team likes safeties not just in the secondary...
There are two corners that will be elite zone defenders but our defense needs man press corners which could be in the back end of the first but likely three of them be there in the second...
As for Tackle, after McGlinchey the talent is questionable... Wynn will kick inside to Guard is a capable Center option... Williams would be lucky to be a right tackle to start... But Parker that I stated from NC A&T has the size, strength, athleticism and plays with leverage and will be there in the back end of the second...
not everything should be first round talent, just because a lot of first round talent slip down into the second round... we need to compliment our roster not just take the best available...
yes I admit I would love Price but in the end would be more ecstatic to get 3 offensive lineman in the second round where when their rookie deals are up we have some leverage just because we drafted them not in the first but second... here is one example a LT 5th year team option would be $ 22.7 M five seasons from now... But a LT in contract talks after a 4 year rookie deal could be gotten for an average of $12 - 18M annual... The numbers are ridiculous and especially after that 5th year team option that player will be seeking to have an annual salary above that team option, even if they aren't worth that money... I want to draft to develop and at worst be able to have some sort of trade value, not have a bloated value because the rookie CBA is flawed...
