What do you guys think? Have we closed the gap talent wise? They were pretty damn good last year but now changing things up with Rex. We obviously have Bowles running the show.

I think The Jets' D will be one of the best in the league this season. So yeah, any gap there was has been closed.

rex is a great defensive mind but he is stubborn to a fault..

3rd & long has been "advantage offense" for a few years now because rex will still send the house (95% of the time) & the league has now adjusted to it.. i believe he remains as predictable in buffalo as he's been since the moment he landed up there..

advantage jets..

Trying my hardest to be fair and not show my loyalty to the gang green or hatred or dislike for Rex, I'm going to say the Jets by a slight margin. Mainly because I believe Rex is and will be the same Rex. Predictable and kill his team on third down with the blitzes. Plus I believe he got rid of his best LB who could have help that issue coming back from injury (fully healthy ofcourse). Bowles seems to adjust ALOT more and uses his DBs in different looks. Plus I believe were drafting that elite pass rushing, pursuit chasing and pass coverage LB in the first round that Rex just let go of in Alonzo.

whoever can get to the QB...hits, sacks, pressure...hopefully the Jets score enough to make teams have to through

Bills as of today. Our secondary is better and their front 7 is better when you factor in pass rush ability. I think it will be interesting to see how Mac and Bowles address our lack of pass rush. Bowles is also more of a bend but dont break DC, while Ryan almost fits his scheme to winning the best D...like last year statistically we had the 6th best D (Bills were 4th)...but did it ever feel like we had the 6th best D? I guess in the Patriot games maybe, but I always felt when teams wanted to score (think the Packers game, or Vikings game, or even vs the Bears, it just felt like when they wanted to score, they did).

I think the Bills D will be statistically better.

I thought the Jets D was ranked 27th last year?

If the Jets draft an edge rusher and he actually can get close to 10 sacks but also provide hurries and QB hits than I think the Jets could have the better D but not by much. Buffalo's front seven is really good. As per the Jets current roster they can be real good but they are still vulnerable to the short pass because their LB's (other than Davis) are turtle slow. Good QB's and OC's can exploit that. Putting Fowler, Ray or Beasley out there definitely helps that.

Dead even. With the addition of 4 new DB's for the Jets, and the Bills loss of Kiko Alonzo LB and not being able to pry David Harris away from the Jets, really hurts the Bills. Rex really thought he had Harris joining him in Buffalo. If we draft Fowler, Gregory or Beasley, we will jump them.

Go Jets...Cyborg

It all depends on how Bowles uses the talent that we have. Our secondary is much improved but we need to edge rushers to really make this unit elite. Maybe with a better secondary Coples can become that guy, but we will have to wait and see.

I know it has felt this way at times in the last few seasons but I believe the stats prove different. Two things. One is I think it has happened more in clutch situations or when we really need a stop but still less overall then most teams. Two Rex now has very good CBs again in Buffalo so I'm sure he will improve again.

Rex will probably still have a top 5 D in Buffalo and Top 10 for sure. Same for the Jets.

Maybe slight advantage to the Jets right now because the division is much more familiar with Rex and his style.

Well Jets were ranked 6th last year..they had 13 takeaways....Buffalo was 6th..they had 30 ! thats a big difference....if they can close that gap the Jets will be better...

and believe it or not..the Jets "only" turned ball over 24 times....19th in league..Jets turned it over offensively less than the Eagles, Colts, Bengals, Cowboys, Giants, Bears, Jags, Saints, Rams , Titans...

The Jets, and mainly because they have better balance. The Bills have a great front seven, but the Jets' is comparable, and I'd put the Jets' secondary against almost anyone else's.

To me, balance tips the scales toward the Jets.

ironically for the most part, rex has always given brady fits..

i believe that's the case because even he recognizes he must try to out think brady instead off the "balls to the wall" approach..

bottom line is both ryan & bowles will both field very formidable defensive units next season..

LOLz extremely different personalities but very similar defensive philosophies..

I was pretty surprised that Bowles blitzes MORE than Rex. Personally I like that stuff so great. I didn't think anyone could out do Rex.
