actually I was being dead serious...

a one year deal for Geno Smith a QB that knows the system because it is unlikely that Gailey or Bowles are gone this off season... a one year deal $4 Million with incentive or bonus if he is named starter of $2 -3 Million is not crazy BUT smart...

Geno Smith lately hasn't done anything off the field to suggest otherwise... Do I like Geno, no but compared to all the other options out there he is the wise decision... From a football decision, he is a more costly option... A veteran that has been in this system for two years, can compete against Bryce Petty for the starting job, knowingly at any time whomever wins the job can be replaced by the said second option... Gives this regime time to develop Christian Hackenberg...

To look at this another way, yes Romo would be an awesome thing here in New York but really he isn't mobile and is one shot from retirement... He is an injury prone player with upside the only problem we have a problem with our offensive line and it will cost big dollars in free agency to fix it for a qb like Romo... We can continue developing linemen with mobile esq quarterbacks like Geno, Petty and even Hackenberg...
i'm not going to rattle off the lengthy laundry list of reasons why i think re-signing smith would be an awful idea.. this is a jet forum.. smith's resume both on & off the field, as well as in the locker room is common knowledge to this fan base..

you & 15 are asking bowles (who's already on shaky ground) & maccagnan to commit employment suicide.. my opinion anyway.....

Not quite sure what the joke is here? I'm familiar with the that old comedy skit from Abbit and Costello but is this what you guys are referring to or is there something I'm missing?

Yes, the comedy skit.

Out of the qbs available, I really want cutler. There's not much to pick from, in ready to move on from Fitz and want nothing to do with Romo. Obviously if petty developed wr would just need a vet at minimum pay, but if things continue as they're going, cutler is the best bridge.

I'm sure Brandon Marshall has great insight into cutler and his problems, and may say you want nothing to do with him, but his talents compliment petty so they could run the same offense easily, and petty would be under no pressure to develop.

Personally,

I actually think it will Be Christian Hackenberg. Maccagnan is super high on this kid and I feel like he will go in next year and be given a legit shot at the QB job. The kid has every intangible you want in a QB. The Jets brass are not rushing him this season. Though come next year, If Bowles is given another crack at the HC job and isn't fired, he will probably be wise to go with Hack if he shows promise in the spring, Training camp and pre-season with the first teamers.

Hell, it could actually buy Bowles another year as he'd have the excuse that the organization is developing the young buck.

If the OL is not rebuilt it really doesn't matter who is back there because the team will suck.

That's gotta be the plan.

Christian Hackenberg is Macs prize possession at this moment. He would want him to develop with a strong O-Line protecting him. I feel Mac will open up some cap room by releasing players that just cant contribute and have given up on the season already.

1st in line, D.Revis
