Why we need a franchise QB & need to stop Far_ing around with second class QB's

Super Bowl 36. Tom Brady (MVP), 1 TD
Super Bowl 37. Brad Johnson (Dexter Jackson), 2 TDs
Super Bowl 38. Tom Brady (MVP), 3 TDs
Super Bowl 39. Tom Brady (Deion Branch), 2 TDs
Super Bowl 40. Ben Roethlisberger (Hines Ward), 0 TDs
Super Bowl 41. Peyton Manning (MVP), 1 TD
Super Bowl 42. Eli Manning (MVP), 2 TDs
Super Bowl 43: Ben Roethlisberger (Santonio Holmes), 1 TD
Super Bowl 44: Drew Brees (MVP), 2 TDs
Super Bowl 45: Aaron Rogers (MVP), 3TDs
Super Bowl 46: Eli Manning (MVP), 1 TD
Super Bowl 47: Joe Flacco (MVP), 3TDs
Super Bowl 48: Russell Wilson (Malcolm Smith), 2TDs
Super Bowl 49: Tom Brady (MVP), 4TDs
Super Bowl 50: Peyton Manning (Von Miller), 0TDs

When you look at Wilson he was in two of them & is young. I guess you take Flacco & Johnson out of this group & the rest could be hall of famers. I rate Flacco as a good Qb & Johnson as a rich teams QB. So could Fitz be a Johnson? or Petty a Flacco in ability.??? If so the Jets need one great team around them.

The Odds say you need a Top Hall of fame QB.

The proof is in the pudding.....Butterscotch Pudding LOL

Your right it is and hopefully Petty will be our guy. Sure it's a long shot but can't no Patriot fan ever tell me they thought Brady was a HOFer when he was drafted. Cowboys fans can't say it either about Romo or Seahawks fans can say that about Wilson. Doubt Packers fans can say that about Farve after they traded for him. Point is, you just never know so if it could happen to them then why not us!

I agree why not us? Buts as far as the pats fans they think the footballs were all done to league rules, The filming was not done & the snow blower was in the league rules.

There is no question this is a QB driven league.... and I agree with your point, that we need a franchise QB.

I don't think we have been slacking in trying.... I think we had some bad scouting and picked the wrong guys as well as not having the right guys to develop the young guys we have drafted...

I think we may have corrected those 2 problems with Mac, Gailey and Patullo. Petty is the start of the process and as I pointed ion a thread before some of the best QB's in the league were not top 10 picks. And the biggest problem with finding a Franchise QB is what I think is the franchise QB formula.... very few QB's defy this formula.... I have seen maybe, maybe 1 in my life..

Formula
1 - QB Skill Set
2 - The right and the consistent coaching staff
3 - The Right system....

I am feeling good about Petty I think he has the skill set and I believe this is the right system for him. I think we have the right coaching staff but it needs to stay consistent. Now time will tell if he is the guy but hey keep swinging till time proves one of the guys to be right..I'd put a lot of money on Petty being the guy if all 3 stay the same his first 5 years in the NFL

Small example:

I was shocked at the firing of Lovie Smith and I was surprised the Giants Hiring McAdoo until I though about the QB position...

First, I didn't think Winston would be a good pro.... He had a great rookie year.. I have to give him credit... I thought TB was on the upswing so firing Lovie made no sense.... But faced with losing their OC who had just done a terrific job with the #1 overall pick and even if the system stayed the same they would lose the communication and chemistry. Not so easily replaced... It made sense for TB's future to hold on to their OC and let Smith go.. Developing the QB is everything and the sysytem and consistency of the Offense from the OC to QB Coach to the QB are the most important aspect of an NFL team in todays era..

Second the Giants. A veteran QB, 2 time Super Bowl Champ and MVP and yet when they went to hire a new coach they went with the inexperienced McAdoo over many more so called qualified candidates. WHY? Because the QB that has won super bowls and is a great talent but has been inconsistent his whole career is finally playing with the consistency that when someone of his talent plays at a lot of games get won.... Reese knew don't F the offense up.... add the small pieces McAdoo and Manning need and focus on the D in the offseason and the Giants will be right back at the top of the NFC East and with all the FA signings on D, Reese has done that now they need to gel. But the offense will not be a concern.... If he went outside and hired someone oither than MCAdoo he would have looking for players on the O and D to fit the new guy.... Heck he even knew he had a good DC but he never gave him the players to run his system now he did.....

Consistency is key in QB development...

Example #2 - Alex Smith - Enough said.

I agree, but it's not as if top shelf quarterbacks grow on trees. Maybe Petty is that guy (I hope), maybe he isn't.

It kind of feels like an uphill battle. Once you get that franchise quarterback, EVERYTHING becomes a hundred times easier.

Our Oline wasn't bad at all last year. Winters came on strong as the year progressed. Gotta keep adding to it to cement it but they weren't bad last year. We lost six games last year because either our coaches and/or defense dropped the ball or Fitz did. Marshall and Decker dropped a few passes that killed us also.

We need to be much better then not bad so lets see how this year goes

This list also shows 3 teams have won 8 super bowls in 14 years. 5 or 6hof qbs winning almost every super bowl. It shows how rare that qb is.

On the flip side, look at how many teams made stupid deals trying to reach for that qb. It just shows how hard it is to get that guy.

That's why losing teams lose & winning teams win.......We need to cross that line......If I was Woody I would say guys do it or you are gone. I want to be a winner.

The point is, woody saying guys do it, isn't going to get it done. There are 32 teams trying to do it. There's only a hand full of these qbs that exist.

Where is this QB coming from? Is there anyone in this draft that you would ride your career on if you were a GM?

If Macc gives up MO, #20, and a 3rd, to move up to the top of the draft, this kid has to start, right now.

He has to start, and win, for the next three years. There is NOBODY in this draft I would risk my career on.

If some value at QB falls, like it did last year with Petty, OK, take a shot

Don't take this towards you because it is not towards you!!!

But

I don't want table scraps. I want a top QB & a top team. Maybe somebody falls ?? He_l with that make the other team fall not us.

it is not my job & I don't have the info these people have. So I can't answer it but they should. If they don't like anyone fine but if they do get him. They are getting paid to do it.....We got to stop letting the Pats push us around & start pushing them around. Go do it or get off of the Jets we don't want you on this team. I hear Jet fans say when Brady retires he_l with that Lets not wait beat them now.

Look the Bruins & Rangers stunk in the late 50's & early 60's. the Bruins got Orr & they pushed to get Orr. Then the GM brought in guys to smash some faces. Beat the opponents down to a bloody pulp. Crush them! People feared the Bruins. they crossed the line & have been winning many games since.

My beloved baseball Cardinals were getting destroyed by the big money in baseball in the 20's they went out & started Minor leagues in baseball. they out smarted the other teams they got it done. They beat the money teams.

The Celtics outsmarted everyone for years. They will do it again.

The Jets & cards in football have stunk up the joint for years they smell & act like losers. They let people walk all over them. joe Walton was a loser.

The Cards owner is starting to change all this. He is turning the ship.

The Blues have outlived two NFL teams in saint Louis they are trying to become winners now. Good owner no money. But he is doing it.

We need to do that now. The motto should be don't let it happen make it happen. Lets be the packers lets be the steelers lets be the Giants Lets be the Pats lets be the 49's.....Lets be the Jets & stop saying play like a jet that is a loser statement lets play like a champ! All winter we are being talked about with the Browns...they suck I don't want to be discussed with the browns they are losers. I am so tired about talking about the Pats cheating. yes it is bad but if we smash them in the mouth & beat them up & win the games we will be better.

Our Media people are losers are announcers are losers. We smell like losers Woody needs to change all of this...I think TB can do it. Big mac needs to show more. Woody needs to act like a winner & not act like an idiot.

Lets demand it folks lets not settle for table scraps.

I hear the cards want another pass rusher....I am so happy. I want more! Some fans say we got Jones so what he could get injured we need more don't settle. Like Denver did last year.....How did the Giants win two SB's with that scarp of a team......multiple Pass rushers & a good QB. That's what won the SB last year. You need to put the fear of the lord in these QB's like Brady & Newton. I don't want a leak I want the dam to break on these QB's

68 jets Philbin great vs the run & great vs pass rusher, Big bad John Elliott Great run Great pass rusher. Verlon Biggs Great pass rusher & good vs the run Rocky Rochester good rush avg pass rusher.

First play of the second half Biggs squeezed the ball out of Tom mattes hands. He took him & crushed him. Just like you make Orange juice.

Ok enough ranting lol......but most of you don't understand we need to want it more then others.

Brick was a nice guy but no way would I want him on the team this year he had it. He lost his edge. I hope Mangold still has it.

these new guys coming in better not be here to retire but to win. Cro was another loser. We have had many losers. It is our time for winning.

Most or at least many Jet fans at met-life have not seen a live Jet NFL playoff game. Think about that one.

In 1968 Peter Gabriel got a letter that shot down his group Genesis. It really said they don't have what it takes to be a Rock Band. They did not listen to that. Years later the President of Atlantic records would play their songs to new artists & say try to be that good. He would go on to tell them you won't be that good but try. Phil Collins & company just spit in the eye of the music world & said no thanks we will do it our way. They are winners.

I know other rock guys that caved in & thought like losers......Guess what they are losers.

I don't have to talk to big mac because he is trying to do his job. If what g wrote in the other post is true he will be good. I just don't know now.
