i always hated these lazy generalizations that because a former player from school X wasn't good that no future players from school X will be good.

each player should be judged on his own merits, not on what someone at his school before him did as a pro. you can point to dee milliner. one could easily counter with landon collins who was an all pro in his 2nd year.

alabama consistently recruits the top players in the country and has many successful pro contributors. so i wouldn't write off any of their players because milliner was a bust. and i say that as someone who hates saban and his sleazy program

Don't watch a lot of CFB but if im the Jets I strongly consider making the reported $55MM in cap room we can make by cutting and restructuring players, signing Eric Berry, and drafting Ruben Foster at LB. IMO that puts a stud at all levels on defense but that's just me. I wouldn't mind foster. I don't want any piece of Humphrey or allen

Lets not get carried away with one game......... although I do like Boulware later in the draft

Is this the first national championship game Watson has played great in or his second?
Now that's just two games, what about all the other games he's played in otherwise, was he any good?
I know the National championship isn't the NFL but Alabama's defense has first round and second round talent littered all over it.
The Jets have been looking for a QB to not only get them to the big game but win it. Watson has done that at the collegiate level.
If the Jets can trade back some and get Watson great. If they pick someone at 6 and then have to trade back into the first round for him great. Depending on grading and how the draft plays out, if he were to fall to them in the second round, even better. Watson looks like he has "IT". You can't define it but you know it when you see it. Could he be a bust, sure. Just have to add his name to the long list of busts that have called themselves a Jet.

Especially when evaluating quarterbacks.
In the mid 60's a QB named Steve Tensi threw 5 TDs for Florida State in the Gator Bowl (?).
He looked terrific. He was big, strong and looked like a sure fire pro QB. He was drafted and signed by San Diego . He never really amounted to much as a pro, playing six years there and in KC with mediocre results.
What most people failed to consider was that three of his TD passes in that bowl were caught by one wide receiver. Al Davis signed that guy. His name was Fred Biletnikoff.

You have to look at the entire picture.

Why does nobody think Watson is worth a high 1st round pick??

I'd do cartwheels if Watson is there and the Jets select him. Very studious, athletic, big arm, accurate and smart.

I'am Hoping by the time the draft rolls around, Mac can spread the $54mil plus cap well enough to create an environment for a young QB to grow.

Well I did just watch Bama's defense just get torched two years in a row. I will pass on any CB from their team.

Jets needs immediate help in skilled position & best pick is RB Fournette is 6-1 and weighs 230 pounds . Adding him with our top WR's group will help our QB. Big RB also wears out strong Defenses trying to stop him & gives Jets ball control & clock control management in keeping Brady off the field. I always believed in taking top skilled positions in first round & no QB warrants a top 10 pick this years Draft. Cut Forte & money, adding Fournette gives Jets a great 1-2 at RB.

Can't cut Forte to save money, his contract is is basically all guarantees next season so he will be on the roster... $4 Million in guarantees...

As for Fournette his latest injury shows he is not a long term option, so drafting him will come with major baggage...

If we take a RB we need a versatile back that can handle the load, if not Christian McCaffrey then maybe someone like Elijah Hood in the middle rounds... Even tho, McCaffrey is ranked as a first round option he may fall to the second as Hood is projecting third to fourth round prospect...

The first round pick comes down to two positions Offensive Tackle or Cornerback... Because CB is steeped in talent within the Top 50 we can wait to the second round to get someone... That opens the door to grab the best potential left tackle on the board...

Jets should try to trade down and stock pile more picks...

1st: OT
2nd: CB
3rd: ER
4th: RB
5th: TE
6th: OG
7th: WR

As of right now that should be the focus in this draft for us, the prospects in question are up for debate but the talent and the need is in order... Yeah I see the debate on BPA which could land someone like Reuben Foster as the first round pick but the need of a tackle seems more relevant at this point...

Just heard today that Ramczyk is scheduled for a hip surgery and may not be able to participate in Combine. Has anyone else heard this?

arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn labrum in his hip...

Ramczyk said he suffered the injury "toward the beginning of the season" but that it hasn't kept him from practicing or playing. He described the injury as a "hip impingement," which occurs when the ball and socket of the hip joint don't fit together properly because of abnormal wearing. The injury causes increased friction during hip movements and can damage the joint if left untreated.

Not to be believed are these Pat Mahomes numbers vs Oklahoma on 10/22/16:

Completed 52 out of 88 passes for 734 yds and 5 TDs (1 pick)

Added 85 yds rushing with 2 TDs, for an NCAA record of 819 total yards from scrimmage in one game.

And Texas Tech lost the game - Oklahoma won 66-59 behind Baker Mayfield who was 27/36 for 545 yds and SEVEN touchdown passes. Oklahoma RB Joe Mixon had 263 yds rushing with 2 TDs and 114 yds receiving with 3 TD catches.

But how does a QB throw the ball 88 times in a single game without his arm falling off?!

Isn't the Texas Tech offense as gimmicky as Baylor's? QBs coming from those offenses should be viewed very cautiously, or at least as extreme projects.

I'm not sold on taking a QB or OL at #6. I don't see there being a QB or OL that is worthy at that high of a pick. IMO it will be either an OLB, RB, CB, SS or FS.

I'd love that linebacker from Alabama. I think he has pro bowl written all over him.

there two top linebackers from Alabama...

Edge Rusher Tim Williams
Thumper MLB Reuben Foster

Either one of these two guys should be in consideration...

Williams disappeared in the title game. He seems like one of those typical jet "pass rushers" that looks invisible on game day. So yeah I guess he would fit in well here lol

but in all seriousness...If we are looking LB I would take a hard look at Ruben Foster. That guy looks like another Patrick willis. I want no part of Humphrey or any other corner at 6..same with safety. Although Im intrigued by Peppers.

Foster is the one that I would want us to take if we are looking at defense
