Zach has said that he, personally, has to do better. he says it all of the time. he is the only person he is critical of.
listen to all of his media - he says the same thing like he is a robot
but
in games has he improved or has he made the same bone headed mistakes
he is a fragile minded person and the media is getting to him that is why he almost snapped yesterday

to say that he "doesn't worry about that stuff" is a joke! he listens and he sees his faults. if this weren't the case, he wouldn't be working on playing the game NOT TO MAKE MISTAKES...you do realize that's how he is playing, right?

i don't want to apologize for him...i see the product, and it is not pretty. But he is learning, and IMO, he is trying to do it in the scheme and as events unfold.
he playing LaFleur's game plan but not his style of football
they finally threw in some plays that are in his capability but even then he failed to execute it properly
there is just something off about his play on the field
and
his attitude during post game interviews - kinda feels like he is skittish to talk or willing to answer

WADR:

1.) Zach has said that he, personally, has to do better. he says it all of the time. he is the only person he is critical of.

2.) I think the fact that he has not called out anyone else when he says "I have to do a better job" is an attempt by a young man to keep everything in house, and not to denounce the efforts of his teammates.
a.) not everyone is Dan Marino who chastised his teammates into performing better.
b.) at this stage of his career, and with his ineffectiveness, had he done this, he would be cementing himself as the spoiled rich kid.

3.) he has no humility...bunk.
a.) where is the "Hero Ball"?
b.) where were the throws into double and triple coverage?
c.) where are the plays that scrap the play called for him to make a highlight reel?

to say that he "doesn't worry about that stuff" is a joke! he listens and he sees his faults. if this weren't the case, he wouldn't be working on playing the game NOT TO MAKE MISTAKES...you do realize that's how he is playing, right?

I agree with this and furthermore I agree that it’s going to take time for a kid coming from where he came to learn how to deal with the rabid NYmedia and it’s fan base .

I’m no Zach Wilson apologist and I don’t know if this kid is width all this fuss but he’s the starting QB of my Jets for the next 2 years at least and he’s going to get my support. When I think he’s at fault I will call him out respectfully, but yesterday was not one of those days.
This coaching staff knew what this kid was facing and used everything they could to negate its effectiveness. When the tricks ran out and the men had to stand and fight, not many men showed up. That makeshift OL and complimentary TE assortment was absolute garbage and got worst when AVT went out for a spell . Then the kid do what kids do and panicked. He then compounded that error with his post game interview with the rabid NY media .
This is a kid from BYU who has never faced what he’s being exposed to on a weekly basis. I knew this would happen and it was a big reason why I didn’t want to draft him .

+1...I didn't want him either.
+1...he gets my support too; not just because we are stuck with him, but bc he is trying to do the "face of the franchise stuff" in the NY Market. tough sledding to learn his job in the NY Market with fans starved to have something to be proud of.
+1...The OC had no answers for the MIA defense; added to you, neither did the Defense against the MIA running game. I didn't see panic, although I might be wrong. I saw the kid try not to compound on the problems by getting more conservative.
+1...
he crapped the bed with his statement.

end of the day rookie players make a mistake and some do repeat it once or twice at the most, but they learn from it and don't do it again...
how many games has Zach played? 10 Games yes the team won 2 of them but what did he do in those games that we won? 2 touchdowns 2 interceptions sacked 5 times for 44 yards 2 fumbles but the team stepped up...

now looking at his repeated mistakes 4 touchdowns 9 interceptions 3 rushing touchdowns but another 2 fumbles with 1 lost
he is not learning from his mistakes, he actually regressed now averaging 180 yards a game throwing and 16 points on offense...

before the injury he was averaging 262 yards passing a game there is something wrong

the way the media hypes prospects because of one good season in a cupcake division of college is horrendous and the Jets bought in to that hype... the OC has no experience but he is not a sham, he just needs to trust his eyes and have counters to when the defense counters what they are succeeding at, this has been a problem for the team all year no in game adjustments...

I don't care what he says in the media they are looking to trip him up until he mans up and he won't he is not built that way...

he will get the support of the fans because they are hoping for a savior, he may not be it --- like I said always prepare for the worst so you are not disappointed but enjoy the success when it happens...

he went 5 for 5 to start the game, and then had some really nice drives to get to 17 points.
as bad he was in the 2nd half, he went 4 for 9 for 52 yards...say that slowly to yourself. a non-wishbone O passes 9 times in a half.
he overthrew on some passes, you're right. but his unit was out there for him to throw the ball 9 times in the entire second half.

a.) he wasn't the reason we lost.
b.) he didn't do anything that compounded the fact that we lost Uncle Mo by making rookie mistakes.

the interviews are a joke. they have become a joke since Bill Beli-fuck turned them into a joke. everybody does their best to be Joe Friday, and answer questions without answering questions.

let's note some stuff...

prior to injury:

1.) GVR was at RG and our full compliment of RB's were not giving Zach the "rely on me" treatment like Mac's Oline was doing.
2.) Zach was throwing picks at an alarming rate.
3.) Zach was pressing and throwing his offense off of the field.

while injured:

1.) 3 QB's got to play with all of our weapons at once.
2.) 3 QB's got to play with The Doctor at RG, and our RB's got better, and the O got balanced.

post injury:

1.) no hero ball.
2.) trying to stay to the script.
3.) turnovers are down.
3.) weapons are M.I.A.
4.) D's have seen where LaFleur's Offense wants to go, and they are taking it away.

yet, he is still doing his best to make better plays and to stay within the offense...the yardage he was getting prior was coming at the cost of rookie mistakes resulting in turnovers...Zach saw that in the mirror. Can you say that about Trevor?

in short, as hard as this is to watch, you might be seeing a gunslinger by nature trying to evolve into one who can manage a game.

If you watched that game last Sunday with an open mind there’s no way you come away saying that Wilson was given enough time to do squat . He didn’t help himself any, but he’s a rookie playing behind 5 guys that probably only said hi to each other during the week before that game.

he was hitting quick hitters early - scripted most likely. Second half as the Dolphins ramped up the pressure and Jet OL took on injuries, time got shorter but curiously the stuff working early disappeared. I'm not thrilled about the fumble and technically he held it too long but I can see he was finally given a deeper route and his guy never got open fast enough. He will learn from that but this is what he has to experience. Error for margin at this level is as thin as the hair on a flea's ass. All in all he is light years ahead of guys like Darnold and Danny Dimes in terms of reading the defense. We are not seeing balls being thrown up for grabs. btw- how did Mac Jones presser go

yup!!! the MIA game was a defensive blending of the CINCY D + the BUFF D in those respective games...

the Fins gave #2 the underneath and the flats in the first half like CINCY gave #5; our QB Feasted, and got the offense into spots to score 17.
CINCY didn't adjust so #5 kept eating.

BUFF did what CINCY should have done in their 2nd half from the start; clogged lanes and stacked the box. MIA learned quickly and did the same in 2nd half.

"if" a speedster like #11 could get his head on straight "and" our line wasn't so leaky, Zach could've taken advantage. Ala' Marino against the Bears on Monday Night in '85.

Even if LaFleur pulled #10 and #82 for The Smith Brothers' & Mims to put the burners on the MIA backfield, #2 didn't have time.

I know it gets old reiterating the same deficiencies but they are real and not going away.........WR corp is a mess with no one able to get open mid/downfield. Berrios is good close to line, but that can be taken away. running game and protection suffers from inadequate OL unit and TEs are brutal in protection and cannot stretch field.

Can't agree more with the sentiment about drafting a WR early.........but if Joe is in the market to deal one of the two 1st rd picks, either a playmaker or OL or DB won't be taken high. LOTS of mystery still to unfold with this draft and draft order. In a lot of ways it's more fascinating than last year's draft

He had an open WR on a 5 yd slant and could've made the pass.

a.) how do you know that was the primary target? if not, then that "check down" is not available by the time he gets back to it.

b.) glad you can see that from your living room...i am just hypothesizing here, but perhaps on that one play, that one receiver, you saw open for one second, was at a time when MIA was destroying multiple gaps and #2 knew the play was broken; with the exception of what you saw from the living room.

c.) while in the ole easy boy, we can only see certain angles...are you certain Zach didn't see a safety or LB noticing your WR? and knew by the time the ball got to him, that defender could have made a play on the ball?

a few different people here saw that play a lot slower, from a MIA rush perspective, in development than i did. i thought MIA flooded the pocket extremely quickly; so much so, that he didn't have time to get into throwing motion and get it thrown away. Which eventually resulted in the strip sack.

FTR, i haven't seen the play since seeing it live, and i might have a totally different take upon a replay at regular speed.

this FA & Draft will be twice as fascinating as last year's...it almost has to be.

oh heaven's, i am going to take a beating for this, but last year's draft was a disaster, in as much as it can be heralded.
we still cannot impose our will on either side of our lines. we routinely get pummeled on the Oline and the Dline.

which makes this year's draft an extension of last year's draft, because we are fixing the same areas.

i would love a high pick to go for a WR and a bigtime TE, and/or a 3 down bell cow RB...but how do you justify that when JD is drafting for the 3rd time and hasn't completed an Oline rebuild, and has DT's who underwhelmed in a 3-4, and now a 4-3.

i would rather rent 2 WR's and threat at TE in FA; and spend big money on them, for a very short heavily loaded bonus contracts , in favor of completing the OLine and DLine, ball hawking safety's, and coast to coast LB's.

but that would mean trading down multiple times and possibly out of the first round all together; not a prospect most will favor.
but if you do that, then you can draft the rented player's replacements in subsequent drafts.
