I can't agree Tinstar.

No one is saying he's Mike Vick or Lamar Jackson but coming out of BYU all the draft experts were raving about his ability to escape and make plays outside of the pocket (both passing and running).

As a Rookie he just set the Jets All-Time record for both A.) Longest QB run in Franchise history and B.) Most rushing yards by a QB in Franchise history during a single game.

Man. That's exciting to me because as plays break down? We now know he can take off and dominate with wheels.

Once the game slows down for him mentally? Man. He can truly become a nightmare for opposing Ds. Just like Mahomes and Josh Allen. Cannon arms but can also destroy you with their running abilities (and none are considered Lamar Jackson).

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm just desperate for a Franchise QB. Maybe Zach is a bust who sucks and has no arm talent and has no running abilities and has no POTENTIAL to improve.

But I'm willing to give him both of next year of 2022 and 2023 in order to prove me wrong.

And hopefully he's not surrounded by CRAP @ Center, RT, TE and WR (like he currently is).

DWC...you should be positive about #2.

1.) it appears that he is learning coverages, bc he isn't throwing into multiple defenders "but" still pushing the ball down field.
2.) he looks like he isn't trying to place the ball for receivers who can't catch anymore. he's ripping it, and they have to make a play.
3.) he looks like he is over the Knoblauch/Sax throws to first. which was 100% mental; he led the nation in short yardage accuracy last year.
4.) he looks like has turned the corner on knowing when to "tuck it and run", or "chuck it on the run"...that is huge; it can literally be the difference of extended or ended drives.

all in all, he is showing signs. but you have to keep in mind: a big part of the fanbase was all in on Sanchez and Darnold too, so the kid is not getting glass half full treatment with everyone. as fair or unfair as that is in comparison to Sanchez and/or Darnold.

Crap Jaguars team or not the kid Rookie was without his #1 WR (Davis), #2 WR (Moore), #3 WR (Crowder), Franchise LT (Mekhi), Awesome Rookie LG (AVT) and plenty of others too.

But yet fans are now demanding awesome games from Zach vs both TB and Buffalo?

not me...i just want to see him continue to make the visible strides noted in my above post.
the memorable games against the game's best will come sooner than later if he keeps it up.

remember what I said at the beginning of the season if Zach buys in and does NOT play hero ball he will succeed...
but what happened he kept moving the pocket opening up himself to getting hurt which is what happened...

but on a side note, they should of had a veteran QB to start the season to allow him to acclimate to this level...
he got hurt...
then had to watch not one, but two oh wait thats right three other quarterbacks succeed at what he was not willing to do from jump street...

We've already witnessed him play awesome football vs. a good team.

The victory certainly wasn't pretty, but it counts the same. Zach Wilson, Robert Saleh, Mike LaFleur and more have their first win with the Jets.

So technically he didn't win the game, but he didn't lose it either.

QB Rating of 97.3.

Imo he won us the game as a QB.

not to mention that #2 wiffed on a point blank pass to #86 that gives #86 a walk in TD to just about cement the game in reg.
i am juiced to see him make that pass in a similar situation, because he'll make the completion to #86 now like he did the #84 pass.

I became a Jets fan in 1993-1994 @ 8-9 years old.

Zach Wilson wasn't born until 1999.

did our defense handle their passing attack, yes
but Bullock did hit all his FGs until the miss in OT...
can not say Zach was the reason we won that game...
he had some good throws but was sacked and had an ill timed interception should of been two but the defender dropped it...

did he follow up that win with another win in London, nope he fell flat on his face threw an interception was sacked twice and we got run over by the Falcons who then were a bad team who finally became respectable as the season went on...

in no way am i saying #2 wasn't a main cog in the wheel of us winning that game. his inspired play made the team feel like they could beat a SB Contender. no doubt!

What you guys fail to understand is that it’s your right to support Zach just as it’s TCT’s right to be critical . He doesn’t have to agree with you guys and you guys don’t have to agree with him . Just quit going at each other and post about the team and it’s players, coaches, front office and ownership.

You do realize we’re all hoping this kid is the goods right ? We’re just not calling him that until he delivers . I remember suck for Sam and I hated that pick . Of all the Jet recent QB Signings the only 1 I actually liked was Pennington. I actually thought he was going to make Jet fans forget Joe Namath . Didn’t know the kid couldn’t take a hit without ending up on the sidelines for a year .

Pennington before injury was magical. I remember when he destroyed Mannings Colts in the playoffs like 40 something to 0.

If not for all of those injuries it would've been Pennington vs. Brady vs. Manning in the AFC instead of just Brady vs. Manning.

And his playoff game vs. Indianapolis in the cold was magical ala

That was the greatest year of Jets QB performance I've ever experienced as a fan outside of Broadway Vinny of 1998.

Injuries stole his arm talent and shoulder strength because if not? He was going to become one of the All-Time QB greats.

Talking about Chad Pennington still makes me sad and I'll forever love #10.

I can't wait to watch his son play college ball kid looks just like his dad.

Let's hope increased arm strength has been added to Pennington version 2.0
