@BlindsideD'Brick so we have the 2nd hardest schedule next season you are saying Deebo will make us that much better that we will make the playoffs, they sure why the fuck not but if he is not giving us that ability to make the playoffs and win games then no he is not worth it.

Not really. Yes he improves the team a lot. But he would cost a lot to acquire. And those resources on their own would also improve the team a lot. He doesn't warrant QB money and the 49ers don't warrant qb compensation.
You sound pretty confident that unknown draft picks are gonna make this team as good as All Pro Deebo Samuel would at a position that is one of the highest needs we have (#1 WR). Why is everyone so caught up in what we have to pay him? He’s a star player. Those guys get paid big bucks. This isn’t Trumaine Johnson or LeVeon Bell here. You’re getting a star in his prime. Teams playing meaningful games in December have stars. This opportunity rarely comes around and people are scared of paying him? JD didn’t mind paying Tyreek. I doubt he’ll have a problem paying an even better fit for this team.

How have high draft picks worked out for the Jets over the last 10 years? I’m talking long term, starting players versus busts or disappointing players? The scale tilts towards the latter. (San Darnold, Jamal Adams, Leonard Williams, Q. Coples, Calvin Pryor, Darron Lee, Dee Milliner). Granted, I trust this GM more than previous ones, but draft picks are still unknowns who frequently disappoint. And not just with the Jets. Hell, even Mekhi Becton, JD’s lockdown LT of the next decade, is creating doubts about whether or not he’s the long term answer. That’s just mind boggling for a guy we just drafted at such an important position. And #11 overall.

To tell the truth I think a player like Debo could hinder Wilson’s development in this offense because instead of continuing to see the entire field he’s now focused on getting the ball to this guy to justify his contract. This team needs to grow together and once we’re confident in what we have at QB then we can make moved like signing older pro bowlers to get us over the top .

Deebo Samuel moves the needle, yes. JD has spent two full years throwing the trash out, and bringing in system guys. Let’s look at the results:

1. Drafted his QB. Zach showed good progress last year and is giving every indication that he’s going to take a step forward in 2022.

2. Finished the o-line. Tomlinson was a great signing. Easily an above average o-line assuming Becton comes back strong.

3. Did an adequate job filling the WR position. Elijah Moore is a solid 2/3 WR. Berrios same thing. Corey Davis? Meh. What’s missing? A true, slam dunk #1 WR. Answer: Deebo Time.

4. TE position complete. Uzomah and Conklin are a huge upgrade.

5. Michael Carter was a great find. We could use a mid round pick on another bruiser.

The defense needs 3-4 pieces. We can address those with this years picks and maybe finish it off next season on D.

Playoffs in 2022 with this lineup? Maybe. I know they’ll win a lot more games.

Honestly, and be honest, how many of those players you mentioned would you have drafted where they were drafted?
I will start . I didn’t want any of them, including Q Williams. Having L Williams on the team I would never have taken Q . And I thought that the Jets should have switched to a 43 years ago . I wasn’t a fan of the way this team drafted and then deployed. Azz backwards for years .

The problem that I have with Deebo is that he wants QB money and the 49ers want QB compensation. I think that percentage-wise, 4 picks in the top 40, 3 are going to work out...and at least 1 will be star calibur. If this weren't the case, I'd be on board with him. FYI, I hated the Bell signing as soon as I heard about it...but I digress.

Your second paragraph is a logical fallacy. The picks weren't all picked by the same GM and the number of busts isn't par for the course.

I think the league has over priced top WRs and Deebo is surely over priced for a team like the jets - give up a pile of picks and pay 30 million or whatever? too much

better to get one or even two WRs in the draft that management likes - way better for the cap so we can afford other players

now is not the moment to deal for a WR

plus some of what makes Deebo special - his ability to run as a wingback - is what he doesnt want to do in his new place.

pass - there are several great choices at WR - go for it

I can't argue against Blindside. I prefer to use the picks and skip on Deebo. In the end, its JD's choice and it seems like he's got Blindsides back.
