Question about Mekhi Becton

Would you be concerned if Becton had the same body type as Damien Woody? I'm asking because last season he did and people were saying that he would eat himself out of football. Yet the same concern was not expressed for Woody.

No if Becton had Damian Woodys body type, there would be no concern.
Your way off how ever in your comparison to him and Becton.Woody played at 320 pounds, Becton showed up to camp at 375 and exceeded 400 lbs during the season. Becton is knock kneed. That predisposes him to knee injuries. Woody was not.
Becton is in the beginning of his career and has not been healthy through a single season while Woody was at the end of his career.

I'm not. I've seen Woody in person. There's no way he was only 320 pounds. He was about Kris Jenkins weight but with more fat. If you're referencing vitals, from some website, that information is unreliable.

That was his playing weight. I also saw him up close and in person as I'm sure many here have. He really blew up weight wise after his career ended. He was never at 400lbs or more during the season. Your also skipping over the most important issue of Becton being knock kneed.
Again poor comparison.

It’s time to move on from this guy. He got beat like a government mule on Tuesday, and now Wednesday he tweaks the same repaired knee and misses the session. It’s pretty obvious the best he is going to be is a spot starter.
If JD can get a 4th for this guy, I help pack him and drive him outta Jersey.

It's a tough call. He's a free agent after this season. Would some team take a chance on Becton having some upside? I think a trade for him giving up something more than a late round pick would require him to restructure. I don't think Becton would see any value in restructuring. So I don't see it happening. Maybe Becton for someone else's problem child would be possible.

Yes after like 7 plays or something. He was feeling some discomfort in the repaired knee. At this point it may be normal as he is working his way back. As long as the training staff is staying on top of it and making sure he isn't damaging anything. It is going to take some time for him to trust the knee and gain confidence

I don't know what to make of Becton. I hear good things, I hear not so good things. I'm on the fence in the sense the Jets NEED him to be the player he was but I get the feeling that player is gone. He flashes but then eh. I wouldn't have a problem with it if I felt he could handle not starting. I don't think he can. We will see. I think Becton is going to be elsewhere come September.......and maybe that's for the best for all.

So he can't play on the right side? And now he can't play on certain surfaces? This guy is not worth the time. Find his replacement.

I didn't watch the game, but he must not have gone against any speed rushers or he went against scrubs 2nd or 3rd teamers.

I would say 99% on both sides were 2nd/3rd teamers and obviously the bubble players, but he didn't play past the opening series.

Let's see how things shake out over the next few preseason games. I'm expecting the 2nd stringers to get more and more burn, so Becton/Wilson et all should have a decent opportunity to get some reps.

Man Duane Brown hasn't even stepped on the practice field. Gotta wonder what JD's plan was to address this huge gaping issue from last season. We have two LT's recovering who neither seem like they will be healthy enough to start the season.

Talented but totally unreliable. I don't see how an organization can count on him.

He might have a higher ceiling than some guys. But I will take the reliability of a D'Brickashaw over the potential top-end talent and unreliability of a Becton. LT is too important a spot to risk on someone like this.

I just watched an interview on youtube with a beat reporter who's attended every practice and says that he thinks that Becton is about to come back strong. He mentions that Becton is getting beat less and seems to have gained confidence regarding his knee.
