I also would have liked White but let's face it WR is not a pressing need either (Marshall, Decker and Kurley). I just don't see how you argue with picking the best defensive or even the best player in the draft. Didn't the Giants pick defensive lineman during their Super bowl runs even though it wasn't a need. WR may not have been a need but made since if they picked White for the sake of Geno, Fitz or any other QB. We don't have a franchise QB so give the QBs multiple true weapons and the QB should be able to produce decent numbers at least. They can draft a WR in the 2nd or 3rd ofcourse but would they have done what White could do to help the QB?

Think about this for one sec:

A rotation of Wilkerson, Richardson, Harrison, Williams; across four quarters
(In either 3/4 or 4/3 or "other") fronts. From either front you have destructive players at every position. It's actually crazy to think of a 4/3 front with 3/4 size.

This would be a sick 4/2/5

Toss in some Coples who, to my eye, has always performed well as an interior pass rusher.

I refuse to get into another QB franchise debate but I will say this, we don't have a franchise QB. That's why taking White would have been perfect to help whichever QB with this offense. Franchise QBs can make players better then they are and work with what they have to still produce W's. Average players need the players around them to build them. We have a very strong nucleus so far in Marshall, Decker, Kerley, Amaro, Cumberland and our RBs but imagine White added to that group.

Whether it be Geno, Fitz or a rookie, with what we have and White you can't go wrong. I just don't see how. There are some real potential game breaking WRs still left. So we should be OK either way as long as we get one of them. Plus I do realise Williams was or is the best ranked player period in all the draft. So we can't be but so upset with this pick. The new regime has done a great job so far and I have full confidence this pick and draft period will work out for us in the end. J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets!

I know this sounds good on paper, but can you name a,specific instance where it's true? Where a rookie receiver made a sub-par QB look better than he was? Did Mike Evans raise Glennon / McCown up a notch? Did Sammy Watkins keep EJ from getting benched? Did Desean Jackson light it up with Cousins / RG III?

Personally I think the crappy QB stifles the quality WR more than the receiver elevates the QB. If anything, a guy like Gurley helps take pressure off Geno since all he has to do is successfully hand the ball off.

I wouldn't have been against going WR (ESPECIALLY if Cooper fell) because we have to believe/pray that one day we'll solve our QB dilemma. But I don't believe the solution is getting more talent around the guy - we just need better talent behind center . . .

One thing is for sure, if Mac wanted to put his stamp on the team, he did it. He made a splash year 1 for sure bring back Revis and Cro, adding Skrine and Marshall and now drafting Williams. There are going to be a lot of cheers for players who make big plays that are here under the Mac regime.

Unless we go to a 4-3, did we get a Starting DL with the 6th overall pick. Will Leonard Williams start over Mo, Rich or Snacks? Even though he is considered the top player in the Draft or the BPA, he may be nothing but a backup for a while. He is not a QB who sits back and learns. I am not saying he is not good. I hope and pray that he turns out to be the next greatest DL in the history of football.

Agree. Have to think that Williams > Wilkerson in a fairly short period of time. You can't pass on it when the best player in the draft falls to you....and I say this having wanted White with that pick.

I'm not just talking about White. I'm talking about the collective group of offensive players we have plus White to help our QBs. I get your point about one player, especially a rookie WR but I'm talking about loading the weapons to help our QB. If we had Luck or Newton for ex... then needing White with what we currently have wouldn't make since. But we have Geno, Fitz and a rookie QB if they even draft one this year. No worries, I'm sure we'll get a quality WR that can help before the draft is done.

I think Coples talent and the depth we have along the DL is much more valuable than any draft pick at this point. I don't know if Wilkerson will get that long term deal he wants but for this season i would like to see who becomes what in Bowles defense.
