I am upset and don't understand the pick and voiced that in just about every post. I make no bones about that or try to hide it at all but I do realize the kind of player we did draft. He is a monster and will help this team immediately, whether we trade MO or not. Just like I thought White would have helped us immediately and IMOO, our QBs needed more help then our d-line did. If we drafted some second round DE project or any other position, I would be furious and not once would you see me posting, "We can't be but so upset" but I know the kind of player we have in Williams.
So I do realize Williams was a can't miss project, the best overall ranked player in all the draft period and may very well be the next Reggie White. He just wasn't a need for us and I believe White could be the next Dez or Al Toon or Julio Jones. A player that will just go up and get the ball and no matter who is around him, the ball is his, he knows it and goes and gets it. That kind of player could have helped our offense (QB mainly) out just as much, if not more as Williams can help our defense. In our particular team situation with a real shaky QB situation, the WR could have helped our team more then the DE IMO, that's all I'm saying.
I know I said this in another post (perhaps to you), but think about the reality around us:
2014 RD1 WRs:
Sammy Watkins
Mike Evans
OBJ
Brandin Cooks
Kelvin Benjamin
Which of those WRs made their QB "better"?
EJ was still benched, even with Watkins to throw to
TB still felt the need to get a controversial QB, even though last year's squad had Evans to throw to
OBJ played lights out, but it was FAR from Eli's best year
Cooks was fun to watch, but would he have produced the same going from Brees to Geno?
Benjamin was a monster in Carolina, and I'd say he's the best example of a QB "benefitting" from him being on the roster
None of those guys were flops, and White would be lucky to match their success. Yet they weren't the magic cure-all you seem to think White would have been.
I'll say it again -- I FULLY expect Williams to have bigger impact on our team than White would have, or even than White will in Chicago with a "real" QB throwing him the ball . . .
