TE situation is very complex because there is some apples and oranges comparison here. Front office will need to decide how much we care about blocking at the TE spot. We have not cared enough about that in recent years, I think.....
you're correct, that's why we brought in KDavis. This team will try to run the ball if what I'm reading about Gailey is correct.

i still think sudfield sticks because of special teams, but his spot should not have a bearing on wether or not we keep saxton also
he was good on teams last year, but we have also brought in some LBs this year as depth guys that excel on teams as well. MM has afforded the CS with lots of roster flexibility all around.

devin smith was a very good gunner in college, so he should be playing on STs

I think the focus of the article was guys who would be notable cuts, in other words previous starters, veterans, etc.

that is what i meant though veterans that could be pushed out by udfa's

I would argue Rex has zero secondary last year. Essentially went into every game with no one on the roster than could cover anyone...and was still infinitely better than what Bowles did with that Eagles d.

I still think Rex farts better defensive philosophies than Bowles best defensive game plans.
Bowles had Peterson and Cro last year and Rex had Allen and Undrafted free agents off the street...what was each team's pass defense ranked? About the same, right?

Rex with those cbs...come on, man.

Personally I think people figured out Rex's defense four years ago and his been in steady decline since then. I think he is a bottom 5 HC and seriously overrated as a DC. I think Bowles is just as knowledgeable and has the advantages of keeping the defense simple, adjusting it to his player's strengths and being game plan specific. Rex would game plan but his defense was set and players adapted to it.

There is this first ballot hall of famer QB in new england that still hasn't figured out his defense...and his HOF coach hasn't figured out his defense either...

We were an Amaro drop and a blocked fg from sweeping then last year with me and you defending Brady's WRs, so no way can I agree with your statements.

Rex's downfall is preparation. He gets his team ready for the Pats, Steelers(well.....most times), Ravens, and whatever team his brother is coaching on, but is lax when it concerns other opponents. He also had this team believing/acting as if they won the Super Bowl when they beat the Pats in the playoffs in 2010, and it cost us the following week against the Steelers. We were completely flat for just about the entire first half. I believe, in time, there will be no comparison on whom is the better HC(Rex/Bowles). IMO, Bowles sees the big picture and embraces the entire job whereas Rex could care less about anything other than his precious scheme.

Lol, Rex used to love to point out his "success" against NE all the time as if we don't play 12 other teams each year. Maybe if he cared how we did against those other times we would have had a decent defense, but quite frankly despite loading up on defensive players in the draft Rex's defense got worse and worse each year as teams most definitely DID figure him out

The conversation wasn't supposed to go this direction. The question was football mastermind when it comes to Xs and Os...I feel rex is a better X and O guy. This wasnt a better head coach conversation.

When I read Cimini's Big Cat Williams rookie article came out, and Cimini referenced Bowles praise is in short supply these days, but he did have some indirect compliments towards Williams, it was obvious already we're heading in the right direction.

This time last year Ryan was coining the phrase Louisville Slugger and putting him in the hall of fame like every first rd pick in May.

Let's hope Devin Smith abuses his zero coverage.

Not sure if serious? He is perfect for that and his main strength though I think he is criminally underrated in other areas as a receiver because he was so completely dominant and blowing the top off of coverages and played with crappy QBs. Devin Smith should be a nightmare matchup for Rex.

No I'm serious. I think Geno is going to get some shots at Amaro and Smith down the middle. Rex sends the safety in his blitz packages. he needs to see which one is coming and make them pay. Hopefully its an area he improves at.
