reading comprehension issues again, SE?

"Unless some harm had occurred to self, friends, or family...I dont condone violence."

Actually, the reading comprehension issues are on YOUR end.

In the two hypotheticals I posted:

1. Guy getting punched had thrown the first punch earlier at a bar, and

2. Guy getting punched had tried to abduct the other guy's child.

Yet you fired back with your response, in your usual arrogant tone about how casually I treated punching, and how I was condoning violence by rationalizing it, thinking it's even...what is the word you used? "Cool?"

Sorry, but YOU are the one with reading comprehension issues.

Just so you know, Geno is going to make a million plus this year with a locked in job this year and announced the starter. IK was fighting to keep his job so there is a difference. Once again, this isn't even about the money anymore its about the principles of disrespect. You and I both know you owe me money.

We agree that you will pay me once we get to camp and were there for two weeks straight and you dont pay up. Then I ask you about it and you then get an attitude and point your finger in my face. Yeah, I can defiunderstand why the dude was pissed off and snapped. Doesn't make it right and he shouldn't of done it but I can understand.

That's irrelevant to 55's spin. He'll mention IK's salary, and how $600 should be inconsequential to him. But he won't mention Geno's salary, which is, what, double IK's? That's not relevant.

It must be Rex Ryan's fault, right?

[h=1]Kristian Dyer: Jets, Todd Bowles still cleaning up Rex Ryan's mess[/h]
They are still left with Rex's mess, Tuesday's news about 'Jaw-mageddon' just the latest gut punch to their former head coach's legacy.

It might take longer than the New York Jets thought to clean up the burning trash can that former head coach Rex Ryan left behind. This was a team that for six years carried Ryan's unabashed personality and swagger, something that reshaped a franchise seemingly forever stuck in the doldrums. But it also was a temperament, a personality that let the inmates run the asylum.

Now a new head coach in Todd Bowles is in town, preaching accountability and trying to sweep out the trash.

There's no denying that with a veteran team he inherited in 2009 that Ryan was the right man for the job. He let the players go about and do their jobs and it worked with two magical runs in the playoffs bringing the team to a game within the Super Bowl. But his style didn't adjust to a younger team, a team that needed strong leadership atop the organization.

And the news of the past few weeks, including Sheldon Richardson's arrest (as well as a league suspension for violating the substance abuse policy) and then Tuesday's news about IK Enempkpali's punch that broke quarterback Geno Smith's jaw is just another indictment on the old regime. This one isn't a blight on Bowles or a first-year general manager in Mike Maccagnan.

It just underscores exactly why the time was right to see 'Rex' go.

No one wanted him to really go, in fact, Ryan was handed some bad rosters his final two years with the team and didn't do a bad job of keeping these Jets competitive. But in terms of character and integrity he showed some serious misjudgments when it came to his own locker room.

A player on the Jets told Metro last week that Bowles uses the word “Accountability more than any other his vocabulary.” Players are fined for being late to meetings, not doing the right thing. In other words, the kind of petty things such as last year when Smith was late to a team meeting in San Diego.

Don't pin this one on the new regime, not yet. Neither Enempkpali or Smith or Richardson for that matter were brought in by Bowles or Maccagnan – all three were draft picks of the old order. No NFL locker room is perfect, not when athletes get paid millions to play a violent sport and are fawned over, treated like royalty and given preferential treatment that breeds an air of entitlement. But it is fast becoming clear that how 'Rex' ran things only made this a petri dish for a spoiled attitude to take root.

It is just more evidence that Jets owner Woody Johnson was right, that the old way of doings things was wrong and that the Jets needed more accountability in that locker room.

They got that in Bowles who apparently has plenty of work to do to get this thing right.

more than triple, $1.8 mill. And I know you condone fighting...but over $600 when you make almost $600k per year...who cares what the guy you punched makes...when you go from making $600k/year to working as a security guard? That's an expensive punch that shouldnt be thrown...

I know you have no issue with child abductors taking your children, and I can't respect anyone who feels that way, but I'll respond to you anyway.

The punch absolutely shouldn't have been thrown. I don't think anyone here is justifying what IK did, and if they are, they're wrong. The other side of this, though, is how much of a leader is your starting QB if he helps this situation escalate?

As for the money, it absolutely was an expensive punch. And it was an expensive loan for Geno not to pay back. You would think he has the $600 far more easily than IK does.

Man I'm really hoping Petty develops sooner then later and half way ready at least for game one. I'd much rather see Petty in there struggling but progressing and learning then that wash out of a QB in Fitz. From what I'm hearing Fitz ain't looking that great in training camp anyway. Don't want to pressure and rush the kid. If Petty ain't ready then he ain't. Sit him and let him learn but if the competition is even slightly close and it appears he can handle it, throw him in there and let's see what he's got.

Calvin Pace's take on the situation was a 'man lost his job', and he wasn't referring to Geno..even with a suspension possibly coming, it wouldn't suprise me if IK sees the field somewhere before Geno ever does. Maybe Geno will get a shot somewhere else but I think the team and Geno knows that NY Jets isn't the place for him anymore.

No way it happens, nor should it. The stupidity of this altercation should not impact how the organization grooms Petty.

I'd be shocked if another team gives IK a shot after this. He broke an NFL cardinal sin.

Personally I think IK will end up with Rex in Buffalo or Tannenbaum in Miami. He was really showing promise in camp and believe he would have made our 53. Everyone on ESPN, Sirius NFL & here, feel he is done in the NFL, I don't, he's only 23 and some crazy team will take a flyer on this idiot.

I agree on your point of geno as a leader...and it's neat how you've now fallen in nicely with seeing things like SG3 and Cy. That's awesome and very appropriate.

That's true. If there is anywhere he could land, it would be in the Wild West of Buffalo.

It is amazing how you determine who other people are. You assign other people their lives and opinions. If that is not a sign of ridiculously out-of-touch narcissism, nothing is.

You basically told me how I was raised and what my childhood was, and now you're telling me with whom I am aligning.

If anyone disrespected you the way you disrespect EVERYONE ELSE here, you'd be crying about how unfairly you're treated. I think you used to even do that on the old scout board.

I wonder if your problem with me is that I don't back down when you try to bully me from your keyboard. Maybe you prefer it when you abuse people and they retreat into a shell.

I hear you and agree but if Petty plays good enough to force their hand, then what? Keep in mind were talking about him competing with Fitz, not Rodgers or Luck or Breeze. Were not even talking about marginally good QBs like Palmer, Tannehill RG3 or Kapernick. So if Petty is giving Fitz a run for his money which shouldn't be but so hard then what do the Jets do then?

I still keep him out until at least late this season. Anything he does now is good for building a foundation, but you can't go overboard. Hitting .320 in Single-A rarely gets you an immediate call to the starting lineup in the majors.

Sack, Welcome to the Superman hate club ! He only points out you sg3 and myself; however, truth be told, he has had numerous fights with most members on this board and about everyone on the old Scout board. Bottom line is 55 can't get along with himself, let alone any poster that does not agree with him. The sad part is we have lost numerous good posters because they like to voice their opinion's without being jumped by 55.

I know he has butted heads with hobson on several occasions.

It's a shame. I appreciate a diversity of opinion, and want people to disagree. That's what helps keep this board going.

But when you are constantly demeaned any time you hold an opinion different from one particular poster, it does take away from what this board is supposed to be about. A lot of people on here disagree. He is just disagreeable.

OK, back to Geno. I think Geno is far more likely to have another shot at a career than IK is, though I think it's unlikely for either.
