Im sorry folks, but the QB that i mostly covet for the Jets to draft is Baker Mayfield. The kid has all the tools you want in a Franchise QB. Moxy, Mobile, stands in the pocket, leader and vision. Tough SOB.

I know many are suspect regarding his attitude. I'd agree if it was a Jets locker room of '16. Its evident that Macagnan & Bowles have changed that culture. It's a tight knit group that will provide the right setting for a young QB to prove himself worthy of leading this team.

(if we miss out on Baker, i absolutley love Rudolph as well. This game was surreal)

So I’m watching the OU @ OSU game and Baker Mayfield and Mason Rudolph look very good. Especially Mayfield and I see what you guys mean about him now. He is a gamer and a different type then that BS small ass show off Manziel from A&M. Mayfield is smaller in size but not skinny. He has the body type for the next level and all the other attributes you what in a franchise QB. Definitely a Russell Wilson type and not Manziel. Mayfield looks he can be the next big thing on the NFL level. So here’s what I was thinking, what if the the Jets can draft a Saquan Barkley or Josh Adams in the 1st round and Baker Mayfield or Mason Rudolph in the second?

What a great game,Baker Mayfield is a football player and a gamer. he will try and do whatever it takes to win. The announcers were trying to compare him to NFL QB's. One said he was a right handed Steve young, anothe said a smaller John Elway, partly because Mayfield is apparently, slightly pigeon toed.
I'd take either one for the Jets.
If the Jets could trade back into the first and get Mayfield with a top ten pick, things would be looking up.

I have avoided the boards this season until now. I had written off the season in the spring - it was clear the front office was tanking. The coaches and players had something else in mind obviously. I wouldn't say I was hoping for losses early, but they perfectly acceptable - this isn't a playoff caliber team - at least in most normal years it's not. This year is wackadoodle. That being said, I've been doing my best to keep one eye on the bigger prize and that is getting a franchise QB in the draft. As we know, it's a tough science to figure out. Too many get blinded by what they see on Saturday and think that translates to Sundays easily. The position in college and the NFL has been steadily growing apart leaving draftees woefully unprepared for the style and rigors of the NFL.

The only clear cut stud I see is Darnold. Critics are going to overanalyze each pass. The key element he possesses in my mind is the ability to create. Call it the Favre factor if you will - darnold has that playmaker ability- and with it comes some warts when he tries too hard. But I have zero doubt he is the prize. As for Rosen - look, I grew up a UCLA fan - don't ask me how a NY native liked UCLA....had to be the annual UCLA/USC game and the colors.....who knows, but I have watched them for decades and I watch Rosen play. He has all the talent and mechanics - but my biggest fear with Rosen is the Jay Cutler mentality. He plays robotic and will get that sour puss on his face when things don't go his way. Buyer beware on him. He's an NFL QB for sure, but Superbowl material? I'm not so sure. I need to see more of the Josh Allen kid - right now I see a big kid that runs first. Can't play QB in NFL if 1st instinct is to run. Glaring example is Brett Hundley with GB. That kid couldn't function in the pocket at UCLA - he had to be on the move. Teams that could contain him beat him. He hasn't looked like an NFL passer. As for the rest, Rudolph, Mayfield, etc.....I see system guys that may be boom or bust. Tough to tell, but they will require retraining.

The Jets now have the 11th spot in the upcoming draft, due to their win against KC.

Recent reports are that the OC wants to bring back McCown for next year, see what I mean. This may have already been discussed on another thread and I missed, so excuse me if I'm late on this but this is exactly what I'm talking about. They are bringing him back next and to start no doubt. If you think otherwise, you got it all wrong. Once again, signs of a cursed franchise that just can't and probably won't ever get it right.

Yep, welcome to the insanity of the Jets - round and round we go - McCown back on a 12M dollar deal - watch folks - start thinking about the rebuild in 2019 lol.

Ok, so I think we all know now that Petty isn’t the answer. They probably won’t but it would be nice if they played Hack the last two games, so we would know for a fact that he isn’t either. Hopefully and I mean HOPEFULLY, these idiots won’t be dumb enough to bring McCown back regardless of the year he had. If they do, hopefully it will be strictly to back up and be a mentor for the rookie franchise QB they do draft this year. Prayers up and fingers crossed!

Jets could get the 5th pick if the Bucs, 49's and Broncos win. Getting in front of the Broncos would be nice. Would also be nice if Indy finishes with the 2nd pick especially if the Jets want Darnold..

Even better if Rosen and Darnold say they won't play for the Browns.

Something about Rosen doesn’t click with me. I get the feel he’ll be another Jay Cutler type. Not interested at all in that. All the other QBs do intrigue me. Jackson scares me also with his run, run, run mentality.

Not to mention missing the Bowl game due to multiple concussions. Could be another Chris Chandelier type. Which makes him a very Jetsy pick.

Rosen seems to have the best throwing mechanics and can make very throw. However, he seems to get nicked up a lot and that's not a good thing. I personally like Darnold better.

With the options the Jets have - Probably not gonna get Rosen or Darnold unless they give up a lot of picks and probably not gonna sign Cousins I think I would be very OK if they drafted Baker Mayfield. Not crazy about his his size but you can't argue with his success, ability to move the ball, being fearless and very accurate. Risk yes but I'd be excited if we did it. I really don't want to see any of the QB's on the Jets roster again although I'd probably take McCown as my backup.

I still think Baker Manziel is a system QB and a first class douche.

You could be right. They have somewhat similar stats albeit Mayfield's are better. The differences seem to be Mayfield is already built more like a Brees, has more love of the game and his teammates seem to follow him where Johnny always was about the money. Attitude is a big difference maker.

Would you take Jackson or Allen over him. Not sure I would..

So with the Browns getting the #1 pick and Giants the #2, it looks like Darnold and Rosen will be there for them if they want them. Rosen says he doesn’t want to go to a losing situation and rather go lower in the draft to a better team. Reports say he will and wants to go to the Giants. Darnold says he’d be honored to play for any team that drafts him. So if this is all true and they both come out, looks like those will be the first two picks. Which leaves us with Mayfield and Allen. Depending on how Mayfield does in the playoffs and combine and how Allen does in the senior bowl or east/west shrine bowl (whichever one) and combine. Also if Denver finishes ahead of us and who they draft. So do the Jets go with either QB or what?

How far into the draft does Mason Rudolph fall?
Could the Jets get a blue chip player at 5/6/7, then have Mason fall to them in the 2nd? trade back into the 1st for him?
What GM is going to fall in love with Lamar Jackson?

A system QB? Are you freakin' kidding me? I take it you haven't watched a single game that he has played. There is no system in the world that could account for the myriad plays he has created on his own by escaping, buying time, all the while keeping his eyes downfield, and then boom! Break the opponent's spirit by lasering a TD pass after he should have been sacked five times on the play... He is an incredibly accurate passer both from the pocket and on the run. And a "first class douche?" His teammates absolutely adore the guy. He plays with tremendous emotion which has at times overflowed and led him to make some bad decisions, but from all personal accounts I have read, he is actually a good, humble kid off the field, and nothing like Manziel. I would love the Jets to draft Baker Mayfield, the guy is an awesome leader and a winner.

So far he has led a bunch of millenial retards. He is dominating in a spread offense. Also his accuracy comes a lot from the system he plays in with short quick throws against some of the worst defenses from the Big 12 in college. He holds onto the ball which is why he has to escape many times. The NFL will figure him out real quick. Either you are going to be right or I am.

So the good news is that one of the 'good' QBs will fall to us. The bad news is it is because they ain't as good as we thought........
