You're trying, but failing to make this sound better than it is? Yeah, sure Mac has done better when signing veteran QB's, but both of those QB's have ever led the team to the playoffs. So if your expectation is to go 5-11 every year then Mac is a genius at finding QB's.
The truth is, Mac has scrambled twice now to put a band-aid over a huge gaping hole at QB. This needs to change once and for all. He wouldn't need band-aids if he'd selected a young, up and coming, long-term option by now.
I know you like to find the silver lining in things, but we are 3 seasons into Mac's regime and this team is putrid. In a QB driven league, the Jets have zilcho at QB. I don't know how much longer you want to wax poetic about things, but my patience has run out. If Mac can't select a franchise QB, then I want him gone. If he can't get a franchise QB then he's a failure as a GM? I really don't believe that can be debated?
I don't think I'm doing anything to make it sound better than it is. I'm pointing out how the team has not hit on finding a young QB. I would not say that's making it sound better than it is.
What I said about Fitz and McCown is accurate. The team did hit on finding a QB who could play well, if short term, and they did it twice. So it's obvious they know how to find the right fit at QB. And it's obvious they know how to get success out of a QB. Fitz and McCown are two examples of that. They just haven't done it with a young QB.
