Top three teams are concerned that since there is no quarterback prospects available in this draft sought by multiple teams that they do not anticipate much of opportunity developing for them to move down in the first round. The lack of top quarterback or multiple quarterbacks could lead to lack of trade action early in the first round, however team sources say that teams picking in the late first round could have some good opportunities to move down into the second day of the draft.

One director of player personnel stated, " It will be tough for teams high in the first to move down. But I think moving down late in the first could have some big interest from teams wanting to move up. The Lions for example, will have a much easier time trading down from pick 32 than from pick 2."

Teams from Tampa Bay at 27th all the way to Lions via Rams at 32 that would avoid that fifth year team option on the rookie contract, also will save on overall guarantees and signing bonuses attached with the first round prospects. That said the other side also would gain that fifth year option on the rookie contract that can provide a franchise a big savings and provide more time before doing a large second contract. The trade into the Top 3 has always been expensive and teams are not willing to give those picks away for mid round compensation in return.

Heard from multiple teams that Georgia’s Lewis Cine blew them away in interviews. Is he first safety off the board now after running 4.37 and jumping 11-1? There were some teams that had first round grades on him before doing all that.

From Peter King on Kayvon Thibodeaux: “I talked with one NFL general manager who met with Thibodeaux in Indy and he found Thibodeaux, in this brief snapshot, to be a me guy.”

Calvin Austin is a more advanced receiver than Treylon Burks and tested much better. Burks has some rough edges to his game. My 1st round grade revolves around betting on his traits. Do I expect teams to use him the way ARK did? No I do not. Talented WR, needs refining!

Ole Miss Sam Williams' character issues are well known, and they pushed the talented Williams out of first-round consideration even though he has a good skill set to go along with production. The character concerns, however, are even more concerning than that, with one director of player personnel calling Williams "Greg Hardy 2.0." Sources from multiple teams said Williams' character issues are so bad, he could go undrafted.

Michigan EDGE defender Aidan Hutchinson is the prototype. When you're building out a 4-3. Ideal role: Primary pass rusher, every-down defensive end. So this makes me wonder how is everyone mocking Hutch to the Detroit Lions who are running a 3-4 defense since the beginning of the 2021 season?

IOL - Guard is in play for the Buccaneers in the first round. The un-retirement of Tom Brady this makes it imperative that they bolster the interior of the offensive line with potential. Two names are circling the wagons is Kenyon Green TAMU, and Zion Johnson Boston College.

At the fifth pick, it sounds like the Giants are focused on Alabama offensive tackle Evan Neal and N.C. State offensive tackle Ikem Ekwonu. Neal might be the preferred player at this time, but that could change during the April draft meetings and when the coaches' evaluations are taken into account.

Like almost all teams in the NFL, the Giants are interested in the idea of trading down as well. Even in the final weeks before a draft, a lot can change with teams. It currently sounds like the Giants could seek to improve their offensive line with a blocker like Neal or Ekwonu.

With the seventh pick, the Giants could land one of the top cornerbacks in the 2022 NFL Draft, like LSU's Derek Stingley or Cincinnati's Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner. It sounds like the Giants have those two far ahead of Washington's Trent McDuffie. There has been a lot of speculation that new general manager Joe Schoen is looking to trade veteran James Bradberry. The previous regime gave big contracts to Bradberry and veteran Adoree' Jackson while also blowing a first-round pick on DeAndre Baker. By trading away Bradberry and taking Stingley or Gardner to be their No. 1 corner, the Giants would get younger and cheaper with the huge asset of a No. 1 corner on a cheap 5-year contract.

Since trading Tyreek Hill, the Kansas City Chiefs arguably don’t have a No. 1 wide receiver. They may be working on a trade to change that in the 2022 NFL Draft.

A source told me, “The Chiefs are willing to trading both 1’s and their second-round picks — whether it’s 50 or 62, depending on how high they want to move up — to get to around Top 5 in the Draft. Now to get to Top 5 in the Draft, they would have to trade their two 1’s and that first second-round pick. If they want to get to 7-8 in the Draft, they can trade their two 1’s and their second second-round pick and move up to there. And the target, from what I heard yesterday, appears to be Garrett Wilson, the wide receiver out of Ohio State.”

With already trading with Joe Douglas and the Jets LDT for Dan Brown, the Chiefs supposedly have contact the Jets for both of their first round selections to gauge the price tag for either one.

The phone "hasn't been ringing" for the Jaguars' No. 1 pick. - Ian Rapoport, NFL Network. Jacksonville would love to trade down, but no one is willing to move up in a mediocre-at-best draft class with no blue-chip quarterback prospect.

A former Texans employee believes the team is targeting Ahmad Gardner at No. 3. Keep in mind that this employee no longer has any ties to the team, so take it with a grain of salt. However, he may still have friends with the organization who have given him information.

Trevor Penning is a favorite of Joe Douglas. - Tony Pauline, Pro Football Network

The Jets' decision to spend three consecutive first-round picks on an offensive line would be dubious, but not if the Jets decide to move on from Mekhi Becton. If they do, and Douglas really covets Penning, he should consider trading down a bit to get better value.

There could be a trade between the Vikings and Chargers. Chargers could move up for a tackle like Trevor Penning to replace the departed Bryan Bulaga. The Vikings figure to have plenty of logical options at No. 12, so it would make sense for them to trade down.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Jaguars GM Trent Baalke wants to trade the No. 1 overall pick but no one is calling as we draw closer to the NFL Draft.
The Jaguars have done extensive top to bottom research on Ikem 'Ickey' Ekwonu from NC State.
The word is the Jags would do a disservice if they pass on Aidan Hutchinson with the first pick, per Albert Breer.
Word is Baalke is buying into the hype of Travon Walker potential upside and considers him one of three potential No. 1 options.

Detroit Lions

If the Jaguars take Georgia DE, Travon Walker at No. 1 overall, La Canfora firmly believes the Lions take Michigan DE, Aidan Hutchinson.
La Canfora fully expects Detroit to listen to offers for the pick and possibly move down for a quarterback.
Heard this is a scenario getting plenty of traction in scouting circles, of calls for the No. 2 pick and what it will take to move up.
From scouts within have been focusing on these three receivers the most; Christian Watson, David Bell & Velus Jones Jr.
The feeling is the Lions have three options on the table, Aidan Hutchinson, Travon Walker or trade down (to a team wanting a QB)

Houston Texans

The feeling is if the two top picks are EDGE or 1 QB taken then the Texans will go Bama OT Evan Neal with the No. 3 selection.
Head Coach Lovie Smith has reiterated the organization is behind last year's 3rd Round QB selection Davis Mills and will build around him.
Texans are extremely high on Ohio State Tight End Jeremy Ruckert as a potential day two selection.
A possible 2nd round selection could be Iowa State RB Breece Hall with the 37th selection.
With the 13th selection via the Browns there are two defensive players a top the draft board; Jordan Davis, Derek Stingley Jr.

A lot of floating expectations with no clear vision on what the team may do, from OLM to DLM even DB or WR with both 1st round picks.
Speculation is for the third straight year GM Joe Douglas will take yet another OLM with one of the first round selections.
There is also widely unsubstantiated speculation from Connor Hughes that the team will take a defensive end or tackle.
Hughes also stating that the team will likely trade Denzel Mims on day three of the draft.
Joe Douglas is known for his love of draft capitol if a team offers the right price he will consider trading down from either pick.
Speculation that Mike Tomlin had several conversations if Malik Willis is there at 4 they will execute that trade they have set in place.
Speculation the majority of the prospects the Jets covet are middle of the first round into day two.

A source says the Jets are interested in Alabama's Jameson Williams even knowing he won't be ready to compete until November coming off the ACL injury. It is unclear how much they are into the Bama receiver but believe you me he is a consideration at pick No. 10
